I just saw Hot Tub Time Machine. I wasn't dying to see it, but I had some time to kill and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty good parody of Back to the Future (Mom and son meet before son is conceived and mom thinks son is a total dork) but more than that, it's a great buddy movie. These guys aren't nerds like the guys on Big Bang Theory. They aren't wannabe alpha males like most of the guys in The Hangover (Zack Galafinakis not included). They're just guys who like to ski, drink beer and ogle women. It's like High Fidelity if Rob Gordon had gotten to go back in time and attempt to fix things with Catherine Zeta Jones. If you're looking for deep insight into the human condition or heavy sci-fi about the consequences of meddling with the space time continuum, don't waste your time, but if you're looking for low key laughs (like every other John Cusack movie) and hot girls with their tops off, this movie's for you.
