I went to my first gaming Con yesterday. It was only a single day con and was a really small affair. The name of it was jiffy Con and I guess they have two a year. the Second one being bigger. What I liked about it was the ability to play with people that you didnt really know so it changes the play dynamic a little bit, that and knowing that you are only playing a one off. I ended up playing Polaris in the morning and Cthulhu Dark in the afternoon.

Polaris was an all right game. Its part of the GMless game systems that were all the rage a few years ago. I thought it was fun, but probably wouldn't play it again. We had one player that was way out there and being stuck in a room with her for four hours was killing the game. The other players were polite but it was obvious that she was the weakest link and everyone was trying to be polite.

The Cthulhu game was fun as well. I think we had a better group for this one. The mechanics were simple and it played out well.

Over all I was leery of going to one of these things, but going with someone else i knew and the chance to try out new games was worth it. I got my dork booster shot before I went so I think I escaped unscathed.
