SANTA CRUZ FUCKING ROCKED!!!!
I said that I'm not into Tiger Army, yes. But that might have been because the Sacramento show wasn't all that great. It was at the Colonial Theatre, and the Sacramento crowd was shit.
But oh my fucking god did last night totally kick ass.
We didn't get there until around 8:30 or so, when US Roughnecks were playing. They were running camera checks, but I managed to run inside before they stole my lovely little camera. Amber was given an all access pass for this show as well, courtasy of Nick 13. So she went backstage to converse with said singer, while her mother, Debbie, and I went off to do our own little things.
I'll say it again, F Minus is the shit. For reals.
And yes, I got to scope the hottie roadie, Dustin, again. But last night wasn't his night, I guess. He seemed pissed off at everyone, kinda slamming shit around by the merch table. He wasn't rude to me. He kept shooting looks at me when he'd walk by - which was often because I chose to stand on the steps leading to the main floor of The Catalyst. (The pit was that big.) And they weren't mean looks, or rude looks, or even flirt looks. Just...looks. Amber said later that when she was trying to find Tiger Army's dressing room, that Dustin ran into her and was really evil to her. I guess he was all "What the fuck do you want, why are you fucking back here? NICK'S room is fucking there." and pointed. *insert cat hiss now* He was fine in Sacramento. Hmm.
Anyways, Debbie decided to take a spot up in the balcony, Amber made her way back to me and we found a nice little spot by the stage, next to the stairs leading to one of the balconies. The Disaters were pretty rockin'. We sat on the floor for that though, not too interesting. But since Amber had that little blue band, she decided to situate herself next to the stage, past the ropes. Eh, no big. The lead singer for The Business was fucking drunk as hell and kept starting shit with some of the crowd members and security. Their set was shit because he hardly sang, kept walking off stage and just finally left the venue before the set was over. Ass.
Tiger Army was fucking awesome. I started out taking pictures from near the stage, on Geoff's side, then went up the staircase that was near me and took pictures from there. They played Under Saturn's Shadow and Power of Moonlight, which made me happy because I do recognize and like those songs. And they did an encore, which consisted of Incorporeal and Annabel Lee, which surprised me because I hear that they hardly ever play that. But like I said, I only hear that.
This was too cute. Before they went to play "Devilgirl" (oh my god I know names to the songs!), Nick said that he said that one good thing about playing in Santa Cruz is that there's a lot of cute girls there...and instantly looks AT AMBER. As soon as I saw that, my head whipped over to look at her...and she was fucking oblivious and didn't catch it. I nearly died laughing, especially when he went on to say "and I don't say that at every show."
So the show wraps and we both wait around so Amber can introduce me to Nick. We wait until the little crowd dies and I hand a security guard my camera, turn to Amber (who is standing in that area between the guardrail and stage), snap my fingers and say "Woman, picture, now god dammit." She gets all shocked and walks over to Nick's left side while I'm on his right side and he's laughing. She says "By the way, this is my friend who will kick your ass for liking WWF." (Amber told me that she and him got in an argument about Sting - he hates him, and she adores him.) The guard takes the picture and right after that I go "By the way, it's all about WCW."
Collective "oooooo".
Nick only chuckled, and I said "Eh, what can I say? Sting fan forever." All I get in response is a quiet "Sting sucks."...that's it? He went off on Sting and Amber said he called him a Christian boy hypocrite or something and all he can give me is "Sting sucks?" Like I said to him, "That's all you got?!?" But yeah, I got my picture with him. Heh. After that we all go to leave and Geoff is sitting by the merch booth, so Amber goes to talk to him and I got a picture of him and Amber. She was trying sooo hard not to bust out laughing. Heheh. Geoff liked my coat, he complimented me on it. Heh.
Anyways, that was the night. I'll have pics to share in the next few days.
In closing, I leave you with the ultimate Javey joke, created on the spot last night by me:
"Dude! I know why Jade grew his hair out!"
"Why?"
"Davey told him to. Said he wanted the 'pony rides' to feel more authentic."
