I'm selling this painting as-is for $45 plus shipping (probably around $8 to the US)
It's not coming out like I wanted and the technique being used isn't very forgiving, and is very very slow and unpleasant to work on. It's done by using layer after layer of slow-drying glaze. Paint keeps getting ruined by insects and dirt getting into the wet paint, and smudging is a frequent battle. It's also not possible for me to scrape down the gessoboard to reuse it for something else at this point, so I'm selling it for pretty much just cost of the materials gone into it.
The painting is obviously based on Alphonse Mucha's 'Job Cigarette' poster. The technique being used is a late-medieval/early Renaissance painting method, believed to be similar to that used by Jan Van Eyck. The paint medium was bought from James C. Groves' Historical Paint Mediums and was reconstructed from chemical analysis of historical paintings like those by Van Eyck.
This unfinished Van Eyck style painting is as good or better quality than many completed modern paintings, so I'm sure it will make somebody happy to have in their home. It is 11 inches by 14, on panel.
Send me a message if you're interested.
