We're officially out of the Box! We've come out of stealth mode and announced to the world what we've been up to with Blackbox Republic. Drum roll please... We've been hard at work creating software to launch an online community for sex-positive people. Read more about it on my blog as well as the other founder of Blackbox Republic, Sam Lawrence.

Here's is a cross post from my blog.

What is sex-positive?

Some people assume it has something to do with porn, adult content, AIDS, or just the act of sex itself. At Blackbox Republic, we use it to mean sexuality isn't an issue. By that we mean that there's a massive population of people who are comfortable with their own sexuality and who are open to other people's sexuality, as well. It encompasses all sexual-orientations, singles, couples, and multiples. While sex-positivity spans all communities (e.g. straight, gay, queer, bi, etc.) it doesn't mean everyone within these communities are sex-positive.

Online Dating Needs a 2.O Enema. Seriously. I spent this past weekend in L.A. at the "idate" conference. This conference is supposed to be the cat's meow for the online dating industry. The entire conference was focused on simply tweaking whats already out there. No innovation or independent thought. I pulled some stats and made a chart (way geeky, I know). There's a clear trend that online dating is nose diving and social networking sites are sky rocketing. I would love your feedback and comments on why this is. Suicide Girls is a community. What are the differences between being in a community vs. social network vs. online dating site? zoom image

Just posted our "San Francisco Sextech Culture" blog from this past weekend in San Francisco. It was a jam packed weekend with lots of amazing people and events. Tech talk was in the air brought on by us as well as the Worldwide Developers Conference in town. The overwhelming consensus is that there isn't a place to share our private lives and create concrete connections. We've heard what you have to say and will be rolling out features of Black Box in the upcoming weeks that will address and solve these common complaints.

As always, happy reading and we love your comments on the blog.

Cheerios,
April

Here's a pic of me when I was down in Austin for a meet up with some SGs, Polys, Bi, Gay, Swinger, Straight, BDSM, Kinksters.

It's awesome to have these meet-ups. My latest post on www.sexwillhappen.com about "Tweeners" is a good recap of the patterns I'm seeing as I go from city to city.

If you guys want to meet up. Let me know in advance!
