I wonder if there is a shelter that would consider housing them for a predetermined time if you asked? It's better than surrendering them to an unsure future so they might consider it if they know they wont have to place them.

If you lived here, I would take your kitties. All my cats receive extensive health insurance and pension plans.

Hope you'll be able to find a good place for them. Hopefully you'll be able to find a "sitter" for them so you can be reunited with them later on when you got a place of your own.
