(and since I can't seem to figure out how to PM-)... there is a anthology of essays/memoirs edited by bell hooks called To Be Real -its a bit older now, maybe 12 years, but still very relevant. Some of the pieces are written by famous writers, but many are just woman and young girls- I think you would like it.
