I introduce myself in this first set in my favourite dress, in my favourite room with my dearest companions.
When I found these birds they were cold I held them for a while but they did not move and began to decay. I wanted to keep them for ever so I tried to bring them back to life.
I stuffed their little bodies with straw and made them eyes from the blackest glass. I hoped they would then begin to talk but not a sound crossed their beaks.
I watch and wait that they might one day sing, until they do I will sit alone in this room and get muddled with Edgar Allan Poe.
In this kingdom by the sea
winged seraphs coveted her and me,
her highborn kinsmen came and bore her away from me,
shut her up in a sepulchre.
Neither the angels in heaven above,
nor the demons down under the sea
can ever sever my soul from hers
in this tomb by the sounding sea.
(from Annabel Lee by Poe)
