You're going to have to settle on only visiting those places that are pretty used to having vegan customers and less likely to bone up stuff like that.

I understand your frustration at restaurants. I only eat veggies and fish. Just can't seem to keep the chef's creativity from screwing up a perfectly heathy meal with cream sauces and cheese. I've been a distance runner for many years and due to dense protien requirements, have never been able to make it all the way to Vegan. I always loose ground when I try to find a Vegan mix that works for me. I commend you for your triumph tho.
You just have to head off the "I can remember everything" waiters, before they leave the table.

You think That's fun, try going the other direction where you have to look for the extra calories and carbs in this Diet crazy world >.<.......But yeah, there are some smaller places that see more vegan lifestyle customers than most. I guess you really can't do much else beyond simply taking the microscope to the menu every time you order. Good luck!

I did the veggie thing for a little over a year, I can't imagine vegan. More power to you for trying to eat out. I remember during my time I was dating a girl who was vegan thing due to dietary constraints. We actually stopped going out to eat because it was a pain in the ass. Found out that most things were maid with one type of animal protein or another.

You do know that they cook your vegan food on the same grill they cook all the non-vegan food, and I gaurentee they use butter. Vegetarian thing is alright but the Fegan thing is just ridiculous, and way too hard to up keep.. not to mention it can be expensive.

When you have your show in Fredericksburg, Sammy T's is fantastic for dinner since they label everything on the menu Vegi or Vegan, depending on the dish.

I recently went vegetarian (again) and even that can be a real pain in the ass at restaurants around here. If one more person says to me "but you still eat chicken, right?" I swear I'm going to gouge their eyes out with an iPod.
