OMG @ellie was definitely one of the few girls that I tried to shoot with as often as possible. Not only is she super easy to shoot (duh have you seen her) but she's SO funny. I was actually kind of surprised.. cause like you're funny and that pretty? Uncool. (obviously kidding)

She stuck around during my awkward can't-figure-out-my-new-lens phase, and I appreciate those that...

Omg.. @fennek is back on SG! Have you all given her a warm welcome?

This little elf and I only got to shoot a couple of times before her SG hiatus and I'm glad we did :)

2014, Creature Fear

2014, Stairway to Heaven

Which @fennek set is your favorite?

I'm not sure if @lascaux found me or I found her but she drove all the way from Buffalo, NY to Toronto to shoot with me! She's even been to Montreal a couple of times. This is one of the really cool experiences where I've watched her grow and move to LA to be part of the Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque show all thanks to...

This cheeky redhead has been an OG SG since 2014! I'm pretty sure she was a big reason in all the reasons of my becoming a staff photographer. We ALWAYS have fun shooting - mostly because she's a total airhead and I'm a total klutz. We end up in pretty interesting situations when we shoot. Man, I miss those days... where the...

With SG's 20th anniversary coming up, and my lack in ability to travel anywhere outside of rural BC to shoot, I thought it might be fun to discover some of the models (and friends) I've gotten to shoot over the years as a staff photographer.

Up first: @aprilblaze

I first met April in 2018. We've gotten pretty lucky with our shoots, with all of them...

Very typical. I decide I'll be more active, I open up, then disappear for months. Sorry!

I've been doing a lot better since October - it was a hell of a road that I wouldn't wish on anyone, yet at the same time I'm incredibly grateful for it. I'm finally seeing the light on the other end. No one talks about how grief has a...

You never need to apologize! Your health is MOST important and sometimes we need other distractions/ time to work through our grieving etc instead of logging on everyday. ❤️

@akiramai is right. You never need to apologize. To be happy and healthy sometimes we need to disappear for a little bit. I know very well from experience. I have recently just came back to SG after having disappeared because of things in life. Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming. If you ever need to talk I am a message away. Sending hugs and happy thoughts to you! 💕

Sorry I’ve disappeared. I’ve been trying to deal with the intense grief and trauma of my favorite person dying 6 months ago. I pushed it down for so long and it surged a month ago and I’ve been suffering since. I’ve been doing a lot of work on myself and my perspective is finally just starting to shift. With this grief though, my panic attacks...

I miss you tons and I'm so sorry you're going through some tough shit right now. When I'm stressed and/or upset, smoking cannabis and having a relaxing bath helps out in the short term. Listening to some of my favorite music usually helps out too. Unfortunately, I've lost close friends and family over the years and it's always difficult. Especially if/when the loss is unexpected or sudden. Even though it's painful, I think it's good to mourn that loss and allow yourself to cry and feel sad about it. One thing that eventually helped me get out of bed every morning was realizing that our time here is limited and it shouldn't be wasted. The loved ones I've lost wouldn't want me to dwell on my sadness to the point it incapacitates me, so I use that as motivation to go out there and be the best I can. And sometimes, being the best you can means barely making it into the real world and still feeling detached from it...and that's ok too. As @rambo mentioned, therapy can also be a great thing if you find a therapist you click with!

I am so sorry to read this, I suffer from anxiety and depression and what has helped me is really putting myself out there, going put to places I hadn't been or that I find hard going to (like crowded places) working out and really starting to give myself me times to check in and care for my mind and body through meditation (which I still find hard to clear my mind but it gets easier with practice)
