I have a friend who does social work, particularly with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, in her Anishnaabe community in Ontario (Grassy Narrows First Nation), and she was telling me all about Pretty Bird when I was living up there. Social services for indigenous communities are stretched so thin, it's tragic...
It's a phenomenal place, and so needed. Thanks for giving it a shout out.

Im happy to see you involved with something like this...my wife works for the Center for Women and Families here in Ky. They house women and thier kids that are victims of any kind of abuse.........it is so sad to see thier campus full, all the time. There is a lot of violent abuse here..its just unbelievable what some of them have been thru.....you are involved in a very worthy cause.........

If you've never been to a reservation, the conditions are truly horrific. At least the ones I've visited. The poverty is unbelievable.

Another overlooked population at risk for rape: prisoners. It's estimated there are more men raped in prison than non-incarcerated women who are similarly assaulted. Yet it's all treated as a joke.
