So the current "Misfits" lineup (Jerry w/ Dez & Marky) are doing a bunch of songs from the 50s. Cool enough idea.... could work...

Except the Misfits really should have died a long time ago.

Anyway, here's a sample of Runaway

Not bad. Jerry doesn't seem like he can sing really. Tell what you think please.

i saw them play 5 years ago or so, right after their american psycho album came out, and it really really sucked. when m. graves sang "point my way to the sky" or whatever, i chucked him the bird. but then about a year and a half ago, i went to see them play at the palace, for the beginning of the 25th anniversary tour. IT WAS AWESOME! i had to take back all the shit i had talked about the "new misfits." although, honestly, when graves got up and they played their new material, it still sucked.

i ended up meeting jerry and doyle, who were so nice it was almost creepy, and then by some crazy chance, my buddies and i saw danzig outside his house on my way home. we stopped and got a picture with him, then went home and fainted.

i'd like to listen to this 50's stuff, but my dial up is so slow, i'd be waiting all night.

I've heard that Jerry and Doyle were incredibly nice before.

Actually, every account of meeting them has gone like this:

"Well, they offered us snacks from a plate of meat and cheeses, and everyone I was with was vegan. Then they asked us back to their hotel afterward."

Okay, so every account has been from some thin, pale, darkhaired girl or another. But I've heard that story from a few different people.

That was surprisingly good. I'm still not paying more than $10 to see them live unless there's a really killer drink special running wherever they play.

only way I would see them if the price was over 10 dollars was if the original lineup wanted to do a reunion tour. I would pay a lot for that, but I don';t think it is coming any time soooon.

for me personally , I think the 2 "new Misfits" albums are killer! They are way better musicians. And I know its cool to hate m. graves but I thought he was good.

I always would like to older stuff better but, for what it was it was good! And they were good live as well!

I find that so insulting
eeek

I don't dislike the new music because it's 'cool to hate graves'. I dislike the new music because it honestly isn't my cup of tea. I honestly think that the music they're making now isn't good music.

I am no sheep.

The thought of this group of guys retaining the name Misfits makes we want to puke. Aside from that they have a few good songs.... Im looking forward to the 50's cover album simply because the only songs I like are nostalgic of that era, like Saturday Night, Scream. But that crap Dig up her bones.... what the hell were they thinking?! The lyrics in that song are so gay and cheesy, especially the chorus. Same thing for american psycho, great riff and verses but that chorus just blows., I could probly name a few more. And did you see what they did to the Crimson Ghost for the 25th Anniversary?!!! *sigh*
Danzig has not wound up much better either this last album was the biggest piece of shit I have heard since the Bacon Brothers album (Yeah, Kevin Bacon and his brother). I bet if Danzig joined the Misfits for a reunion tour it would just be a huge disappointment, his singing style has changed so much its unreal. I can just imagine what Danzig would sound like trying to bellow out Green Hell nowadays.
At least the original releases by the misfits are good enough to last 13 years and counting. skull

I just listened to the clip of this- I like the guitars, but whoever is singing just needs to hang it up and go work in a deli or something.

Well at least they acknowledge the fact that they can't write lyrics by themselves anymore, so this is a very good idea and this maybe the first misfits album I buy in years.

Vocals courtesy Jerry Only.

Del Shannon didn't do backup, he's dead. Some of his band or something contributes. Ronnie Spector shows up though, as I recall. Just check it out yourself on http://www.misfits.com

At the least, I am curious to hear the rest. Yeah.

cherry,
dont be insulted. I wasnt directing that towards you.
I love the whole goth/punk/horror style. Everyone I have come in contact with or talked to personally hates the graves era misfits. And most of them havent even heard most of the music. I met Mike , and he was a great guy. Imagine being the guy that replaces danzig?
Can you imagine what shit he had to eat? Its cool if you dont dig it, But for me I thought those 2 albums were cool. Saturday night, hate the living, dust to dust, those were some good songs.......... maybe its just me.
sometimes talking about the misfits is like talking about god with some people. everyone has their own take on it.
The 50's project sounds good. well see.
as far as danzig goes, I still love him!
Saw him at the roseland in august and it was killer!
WOW! sooooooo many hot girls always at danzig!
