this is a topic inspired by the *hard to listen to CD's* topic.

i saw metal machine music lumped in with CHIPMUNK PUNK and thought that's a great injustice.

MMM has a great cover...first off... if it was just blank...it would be not as appealing. LOU in the vilage people outfit and the blond hair. tre cool.

the F you it sent to all the SWEET JANE fans was great. a *thank you but remember i still hate you* message sent and recieved by the fans and the best part the record company.

the limited avail of it and the collectible thing is a add on.

finally.... lester bangs article on cruising chicks with the 8 track of it blaring....is my dream.

(plus... i stole my copy from a radio station... so i have a PROMO COPY!)

Yeah I own it, and posted it as "unlistenable" on that thread...and with good reason. After awhile the feedback and tweaking drives you mad. I'm not saying I dont love it, cause I do, and I agree with you on the statement it made. I love the Reed-ster and the Velvets. "Berlin" is probably my favorite album of his after "Transformer"

I'm a HUGE fan of the VU, but I just can't get my hands around Reed's other stuff.

yeah the way i heard it, MMM was just something he did to piss off his label because they wouldn't let him out of his contract. maybe true, maybe not.

and yeah i bought it, and i've listened to it a few times, but not all that often.

as far as the rest of his solo catalog ... berlin & transformer are pretty kick ass, rock & roll animal is kick ass. i like ecstasy pretty well, and i haven't heard all that much of the rest.

VU: great stuff.
