'A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'He has been arrested under the Protection of Children Act 1978 on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children, suspicion of making indecent images of children and on suspicion of incitement to distribute indecent images of children."'

if you believe the London media, this is pretty much crap. apparently someone on his IP checked a child porn site once (keep in mind he has a young-ish son), and as such that put him on a "flagged list" as the registered owner of said address. what with the recent Gary Glitter arrest, they're going after any and all high-profile members of said list. *shrug* i think it's bullshit.

I heard about this on the radio. They said that he admitted he checked out a kiddie-porn web site, but only for research purposes because he was making an autobiogrophy, and he was molested as a child or some shit. That's my take on the deal anyway, Pete's still a rocker.

If he can prove it was for research then I believe he should be let go. There still should be an investigation since he does have a child after that tho because sexual abuse is a nasty continous cycle

From what I've heard he was initaly busted because he used his credit card to pay for access to the sight. However he does claim that he was doing reasearch for this book of his and that he talked to the police about it befor he did it. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the courts have to say.

this is sad. i hope that this charge...true or not... does not shadow the great music this man has made.

child porn is ridiculous and just not acceptable in any form. anyone who is into it is selfish and self centered to think his/her libido can run rampant over the life of a young person.

Thanks for the great link. This taken with the imagery Townshend put in Tommy does shed light on motivations. There is more to this story to come, I hope the hysteria and innuendo that the British tabloids can swirl about with impunity will be taken with a large grain of salt.

yeah, great link. i've loved The Who and Pete's stuff for 20 years. he always gets into trouble when he speaks his mind. people would rather keep their heads in the sand. i'm on his side for now, and appreciate the bringing of this problem to publics mind.

The Sun totally ignores the main thrust of Pete's article, which is that he loathes child pornography with a passion, and is horrified at how easy it is to find it on the internet.
