of all time in british history my five favorite albums would have to be.
1."the queen is dead" the smiths
2.""black celebration" depeche mode
3."just for a day" slowdive
4."olympian" gene
5."odessey & oracle" the zombies

i listen to all of those at least once a day, i would also put "whats the story morning glory" but for some reason i'm embarressed to say i love oasis even though i do love them. ah well.

erm...it's a toughy. 5 british albums that have meant something to me:

1. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
2. The Smiths - Strangeways Here We Come
3. The Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks
4. Raging Speedhorn - Raging Speedhorn
5. Mogwai - Young Team

The last two aren't so widely appreciated... It's weird how i have a reallystrong sense of national pride yet all my favourite bands are american. Such Is Life.

God, I was gonna make a list of my own and I can't even choose from the ones listed already! I can't even say a bad word about any of the above; I don't know Gene or Slowdive, and didn't like the one song I heard by Badly Drawn, but I like what I've read about him regardless...I could very well love all three of 'em...

I'll simply list the most ENGLISH albums I can think of that ain't been listed

Blur - Parklife
The Fall – pick one, any one…
Ian Dury – Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (best-of)
Elastica – debut
Half Man Half Biscuit – Back in the DHSS

(The latter refers to the Dept of Health and Social Services; they’re sayin’ they’re on welfare ["the dole”]. Honorable mention: Squeeze – Cool for Cats, Oasis – Definitely Maybe.)

Well, it's hard for me to speak of "all-time," because there's so much stuff like the Beatles and Stones and (fill in the blank) that should probably be on the list, so i can only speak from my own collections over the years. Even from my own stuff, it's hard enough, because i've followed so many UK bands... i suppose i'm going to have to base my 5 on the albums that gave me the most visceral response...

The Wedding Present / Seamonsters
Jesus and Mary Chain / Psychocandy
My Bloody Valentine / Loveless
the Cure / Head on the Door
The Smiths / The Queen is Dead

Damn, this is impossible... i really should have the Boo Radleys / Everything's Alright Forever and DM / Black Celebration on there and B&S / The Boy with the Arab Strap and the Field Mice / For Keeps and Echo...
