I've never been really taken aback by them, but recently i've been realising that Brodie is a really good vocalist..and those songs are damn catchy. I hate it when bands grow on me, especially when I give that band's album to my ex gf....Fuck.

yanno, my friend and i had them on driving to new york, and i didn't think too much of them at the time. i thought they were kind of annoying actually. but a couple days later i got 'girlfixer' stuck in my head, and couldn't get it out. they've grown on me.

Yes Brodie is cute and yes she sounds like courney but I got the first album for free and I wanted my $$$ back. Eminem is catchy too but that doesn't make me like him. I'd say they were just dam lucky someone married the owner of the punk label with good worldwide distribution cuz otherwize they'd be out in the cold. Didn't they get a whole new line-up for this new album too?

I love how every time a girl is in a band people immediately talk about how she LOOKED. Who gives a shit? Maybe she had a fucking bad day. I wake up in the morning with bags under my eyes too. God. Let me go throw out my Rolling Stones CD because Mick Jagger isn't sexy anymore. Quick, I've got to stop liking the Business because they're old and funny-looking. Jesus, I've got to get rid of my Pogues CD's because Shane McGowan has about one tooth left, and is inches from drinking himself to death. God, how shallow.
I think the Distillers fucking rock. The first time I heard them I was thrilled to hear a girl play a kind of music that I love and that is overwhelmingly dominated by men. And believe me, Rancid didn't invent the sound.

i merely anwsered to the post above my last. I really don't what your problem is. Personally I don't give a damn what she looked like etiher way. I was just telling others that just because someone looks good on tv doesn't mean they are hot in person. It had nothing to do with her being female etiher. Its rather insulting that you see it that way too. If the situation would have had male instead of female then I would have said the same.

I hate how people try to twist my words around.

I'm not trying to twist your words. You commented on her looks, it fucking annoys me that a band's worth is measured in the attractiveness or lack thereof of its singer. And I find this happens a lot more often with female artists, who seem to have to put up with a lot more shit than males do to be taken seriously.

I never said "Lifeinrewind, you're an idiot for saying this." Almost everyone has commented on what she looks like, so calm down if you think I'm attacking you personally.
And I met her, and she was a total sweetheart, taking time to talk to everyone who wanted to talk to her. So it annoys me that she is brought down to being Tim Armstrong's wife, and someone who either looks good or not good, when she probably just wants to make music.
I am so tired of celebrity-bashing.

I agree but I hope you understand what I meant. It had nothing to do with their band or how good/bad they were. I was just telling of a personal experience to explain tv has its ways of mulipilating. That is all. I really wasn't trying to offend anyone or turn any off from liking the band(which I doubt I did). I hope its everything is fine then.

I really like the distillers when I first heard them it really reminded me of Rancid, then I heard that Brody is married to Tim Armstrong so go figure. No matter what the influence though she is definitely a woman with a unique style and a voice to match.

OK looks aside, gender aside, who financed the album aside The Distiller just plain rot. ThoughI do like Brodie's little punk carton doodles she does for the Hell-Cat promo stuff.

I know quite a few cool girls with voices I enjoy and wish they would start bands. Can't see anything terribly unique about the Distiller's vocals truth to tell. You'd usually think I was biased by bands with big hair but honestly an truly The Distillers should do a show with the Devotchkas so I can firebomb the place and rid the world of the 2 worst female fronted bands ever!

Cheers to:
Last Target (female fronted skin rock from japan)
The NY-Relx (nyc glam/street rock)
The cool pissed off girl that sang with the casualties whereve you are!

Again, like I said on the Donnas thread: I love that when people don't like a band, they have to say "they fucking suck" rather then "I don' t like them."
We got the point the first time that you don't like them. Do you have to threaten her life too? She's a cool chick, even if you don't like her music, and a lot less obnoxious than most punk rock musicians.
