I saw them back home before anyone outside of berkeley and the gilman heard of them. i think they were better then for obvious reasons, but godfathers of punk? pop/mtv/punk, well ok. i'm not trying discredit them for their accomplishments, but after 39/smooth, kerplunk and dookie i have'nt purchased any of their albums.

The neverending desire on the part of some "punks" to define what punk is makes most punk just totally suck.

Green Day is a much better band than most "punk as fuck" bands. Dookie is a truly great album, they've done a series of great singles, and I really really like American Idiot.

Sorry if it's not punk, but that doesn't matter.
