Never at a lose for words, Morrissey is urging US voters to vote for Jon Stewart.

NME reports ...

With all my heart I urge people to vote against George Bush. Jon Stewart would be ideal, but John Kerry is the logical and sane move.

He goes on by stating ...

For non-Americans, the United States is suddenly not a very nice place to visit because US immigration officers – under the rules of Bush – now conduct themselves with all the charm and unanswerable indignation of Hitler’s SS.

In other Morrissey news, the singer will be performing in the UK with PJ Harvey on the following dates.

December 13 -- Glasgow SEC
December 14 -- Birmingham NIA
December 17 -- Brighton Centre
December 18 -- London Earl's Court

If he ran I'd vote for him. He may not be a great choice but at least he would be funnier.

The last time I crossed the border, I got an abbreviated 'job-stealing-foreign-devil' comment and a less-than-friendly frown, but waved through by US Customs. (Go-go NAFTA.)

The funny thing is, by folding the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Services) into the DHS (Department of Homeland Security), they were supposed to split the administration (granting entry, visas, import/export) and enforcement (deportations, blocking of entry) of immigration and customs laws, to prevent Customs agents from acting with 'unanswerable indignation'. In immigration law circles, it was something of a joke that if you got an immigration official in a bad mood (e.g. didn't get any action the night before), (s)he could deny you entry for feeling ornery, and there was little you could do about it, since protesting would push them over into their enforcement mode.

I would totally vote for John Stewart.

The daily show is probably the most unbiased news reporting left to us.

He recently canceled dates in Texas. The Internet rumor is he received death threats after making some ( fairly bland ) Bush comments during his Fort Worth concert. The official reason is strained vocal chords. I tend to believe he is just sick. The guy has been touring pretty hard and while he has been known to cancel shows in the past for questionable reasons, I tend to think he's just tired and is genuinely ill. He's no spring chicken and has been belting out unusually long set lists at his shows. Travel plus lots of singing = sick Moz.

Oh, and Tuffy, did you see the poster Jermaine did?

I was just thinking about a strange presidential ticket I could see winning. Jon Stewart and Oprah. Jon Stewart slams the young votes and Oprah pulls in all the middle age women. She certainly has the money and clout to run.

Too complicated for me. All I have to add is that I met Morrissey once and he was really nice.

maybe i dont get it cause i go out too much.. whatever. it just irks me when people put value in the opinion of musicisans, actors and the like. Im sure Morrissey is a very smart man, and he has every right to voice his opinion, its jsut unnewsworthy in my narrow opinion.
