Anyone know what became of them? Grave Dancer's Union was a tremendous album, I thought.

They founded a short-lived dot com business called "Frustrated Incorporated."

They never found their market, and the business failed in the late 90s. Since then, I hear they've been jumping from job to job, usually staying within the misery industry.

hmm strange, I loved all the albums before Misery Incorporated, and yet haven't thought about where they are....Where are they? Probably Minneapolis somewhere.

Actually, Karl - the bass player - is currently battling cancer.
Thanks for asking.

They still play some shows in the Minneapolis area. Mostly benefits and shit of the like. I saw Dave Pirner in the liquer store last week. Man, does he look ruff! In fact I think....

Rock for Karl (October 21st, 2004) concert at the Quest nightclub in Minneapolis, which benefited the band's cancer-survivor bassist Karl Mueller. Also onstage was Bob Mould and Grant Hart of Hüsker Dü. They haven't palyed for years either. Ex-Replacements frontman Paul Westerberg was there. A reunited Gear Daddies, and a makeshift lineup of Golden Smog.

I know this hardly makes him special, but didn't that guy used to date Winona Ryder (back when she was cute)?

I was reading about them the other day for the first time in years.

Their bass player was diagnosed with throat cancer, and there was a benifit concert for him with them (Soul Asylum), Bob Mould (who even played Husker Du songs with Grant Hart), and Paul Westburg.

Dood. I grew up in Minneapolis. Seeing Dave Pirner in a liquor store (or bar) is not surprising. Sadly, it happens every night of the week.

As far as the benefit is concerned, I saw one they performed at the 400 Bar a few months back - it was great except for the sorority girls who showed up (probably because they heard Soul Asylum was playing) and spent the entire evening loudly commenting on the "wierd necklace" Karl Mueller was wearing (it was his breathing apparatus thingy).

I heard the Replacements were >< this close to reuniting for a benefit show but Paul could not convince one of the guys (Chris Mars?) to sign on.

Good ole Soul Asylum. I heard about that benefit and was prompted to dust off Hang Time and While You Were Out. Still good stuff. Last time I saw them (88?)they played with Gear Daddies and Trip Shakespeare. I think it cost a buck.
