OK, maybe no-one else thinks like this, and I'm weird. But there's one little 2 second bit of There is a Light and It Never Goes Out, after Morrisey sings "Take me anywhere, I don't care, I don't care, I don't care" in the second verse, where Johnny Marr plays this little thing. And it's my favourite bit of the whole song. I love it. The whole song is awesome, but that's the best bit.

So...what other small song moments do you love?

The sax and drums intro to The Twist by Chubby Checker is one of the most rockin moments in any song.

Also in The Chiffons' One Fine Day, the bit where it goes into the sax solo backed with handclaps and "aaaahhhhh's" is just glorous.

Oh yeah - any Rolling Stones song with maracas in it is guaranteed - especially Brown Sugar.

2:23 to 2:30 in Finger Eleven's "Good Times"
:40 to :58 in Creed's "Bullets" (probably the only part longer than :15 that I like of a Creed song)
:00 to :36 in Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" Classic!!
:00 to :42 in Iron Maiden's "Aces High" Another classic
:00 to :29 in Lacuna Coil's "To Live is to Hide"
3:08 to 3:23 in Lacuna Coil's "To Live is to Hide"
:17 to :33 in RATM's "Killing in the Name of"
1:07 to 1:22 in Slayer's "Raining Blood"
:00 to :05 of RHCP's "Higher Ground"

And yes, I'm that bored that I looked them all up.

1:30 to 2:05 in Jimi Hendrix's "Woodstock Improvisation"... crazy ascending scales that finishes with a feedback screech.... gives me goosebumps every time i hear it. the single greatest guitar solo ever.

The very beginning of Disturbed’s “Down With The Sickness” you know the “Ohh Ahh AhH AHH!!” part. Also (1:21)-(1:25) from PJ Harvey’s “Shame.” And the “don’t worry baby” part’s of Garbage’s “Push It.”

Agreed. biggrin I always start smiling when I hear that, and when it starts up at a wedding or something, it's everyone's cue to rush to the dance floor.

The part in "Jersey Girl" by Tom Waits where everything drops out except the bass and he sings, "And I call her name / I can't sleep a night," and then the music comes back up. Tears me up.

When I started this thread, I had the song on Winamp, and I was like, "Shall I write down the actual seconds during which it takes place? Nah, Everyone would laugh at me." I was wrong, clearly. wink

I like the part in that one Fugazi song where the guitars are going and the drums play at the same time and then just the guitar, but the drums come back in. I like that. It sounds pretty cool.
