Hmm, I don't think anyone has ever said a thing about them, but does anyone like Pavement? I had to buy this 2 disc dvd this week and it's entertaining as hell. They had 13 music videos and in my opinion they are all pretty bad, although there's still a certain charm to seeing 5 dorks make asses of themselves consistently.
there are LOTS of pavement fans here, myself included. been thinkin' about getting that 2 disc extravaganza. i saw them live here in boise at my favorite bar about the time of crooked rain, crooked rain. five dollars. woohoo!
everyone loves pavement! what's there not to love? how about Stephen's solo album? I dig it.. can't wait till he comes back through though, i was gone when he was here.... definitely going to have to check out the dvd!
The commentaries to the videos are funny both from the band's perspective and the directors. Malkmus makes fun of himself throughout with snide remarks on his appearance whether it be the "indie rock prince, ha ha" in Cut Your Hair or his Mark E. Smith act in the video for Stereo.
Oh, and my favorite video has to be Gold Soundz. The band dressed in Santa Claus outfits with bow and arrows hunting a raw turkey in an Irvine strip mall. Might have had a $50 budget. Reminds me of my own shitty summer days in the middle-of-nowhere California.
i def. <3 pavement...i have only watched the videos on the dvd set,...im gonna watch more tonite......i think all the vids are great...funny as hell...i like seing malkmus being a dork, while looking pretentious as all hell.....has anyone her ever met him? im wondering how he is personality wise..b/c he seems like he could probably be a bid jerk....but i love/loved that band....ahhhhh...listened to wowie zowee today actually....
does anyone have a cd or ALL the bsides? itd probably be like 2 or 3 disks..i have a lot of the singles, but not everything..i figure maybe maybe someone here could help me out..i have a live set from seattle to trade from 99, and i also have a bootleg from a while ago called "green around the gills".
