do the kids still like the thinking fellers local 282?
they were constantly brilliant in their releases and never put out a dud. i found a mix cd i made of their stuff (heavy on the brian h. material) and i realized for the 1,000th time that they are one of my favorite bands ever.
Funny question, but my guess is the kids these days just can't appreciate what us old timers grew up with. Man, I haven't heard anybody talk about this band in ages.
But like many Matador bands, they are past the prime.
their last album was so great! on communion maybe?
remember when something on matador meant that it was going to be yo la tango-riffic?? or even on homestead...where if it wasn't perfect, it could at least be loud and bastro-y.
i think i saw one of the TFUL's last shows...when gino was playing percussion b/c maybe jay didn't know the songs anymore or he was rusty...and anne is in oregon now?
I hear ya, brutha. I used to worship at the Church of Matador every Sunday and the Church of 4AD every Saturday.
Funny you mention Matador so much because, and I hadn't mentioned it on the other thread, but I think Chavez was the most underrated band ever. In fact, that's who I named my dog after. I understand Matt Sweeney is playing in Billy Corgan's new band; I guess that's cool, but... uh, whatever.
They used to publish the fucking BEST music available.
