Just thinking on my way to work that Dave Grohl must be so sick of seeing his name ALL over the place right now. OK, the guy sits in on the new Queens of the Stone Age record for a set. They like him so much they keep him on for the whole album and first leg of the tour. He leaves that tour just in time to battle Courtney ( rawk whore) Love for rights to the Nirvana library. That case was settled and the Nirvana album will be out this week. But wait... the new Foo Fighters record comes out tommorrow as well!!

So let's see. Drumming on the new Queens cd, potentially one of the most influential rock bands out there right now. Releases the long awaited follow up to Kurt Cobains shotgun blast heard round the world... and gearing up for the release of HIS bands new album and tour as well. Oh and lets not forget the "death metal" project he's sitting on that will come out in March. To me this guy is not only the best drummer out there right now but his timing and choice of projects is great!

Dave Grohl is MY rock n roll MVP... agree?? and if not who's yours??

My vote is for Mike Fox.

He's got the old school cred (Los Olvidados, Drunk Injuns, Hemi).

And he's the reason "Young And Good Looking" is the BEST Dwarves record.

"I just crank the gain all the way up. If can't make my guitar do what i want it to do with just that, well, I have no business fucking around with effects pedals."

Fox is my hero.

My MVP is Jerry Only from the misfits.

The man is like the Titanic, if it hadn't sank.

Hes the only member of the misfits to play every show and be on every recording ever. He has his own business and was featured in fortune magazine...

He has been able to keep alive and progress one of the greatest bands ever, thru lawsuits, death, drugs, and he still goes to church every sunday. (Not that I condone going to church but more power to him)

And he has no pl;an on stopping anytime soon...

Oh yea and, Fuck Glen Danzig.

well, along the same lines as Grohl... i'd like to cast my vote for Chris Schiflet...

Plays guitar w/ the Foos
Street cred from playing with NUFAN before the Foos...
Still get together with the boys from Me First and The Gimme Gimmes... pretty bad ass...

either him or B-Face...
former member of the Queers, Plays with the Groovie Ghoulies when they're on the east coast, plays with the Get Up Kids damn near all the time...

Young and Good looking is the best? Hmm. I'll have to disagree there.

wow... i can't agree with you. The only thing Jerry only has kept alive is a pathetic money making shell of a great band. Fuck Glenn Danzig?? He WAS and will always be the Misfits. Yah he's an arrogant, son of a bitch but anything good the Misfits ever did was his. His image and his songwriting... and the one thing that set the Misfits apart... HIS voice! The music sucked but they had a great image that Danzig created. He was ahead of his time when he formed that band, Jerry was just along for the ride. It took him 10 years to clean up his act and try and ressurect that band. And he's done a poor job doing that as well.

I'm with you demon. Grohl has always played his cards perfectly. Which can't be said for most popular artists.

Steve Vai.

Seriously.

Stop laughing.

Frank Zappa.
David Lee Roth.
Whitesnake.
various solo albums
now owns his own record label

For anyone that is still into guitar wanking, Steve Vai is their god - which means he can still sell a modest amount of albums (on his own label) and keep most of the profits.

C'mon it's better than Gwen Stefani.

John Reis a.k.a. SPEEDO!

Founder and Frontman of one of the world's greatest Rock'n'Roll party / make-out bands: Rocket From The Crypt!

Backbone, spirit and chord strummer extrodinaire for the famously dangerous and dangerously under-appriciated Drive Like Jehu.

Followed up with the same job in the equally awesome Hot Snakes.

As well as amazing records from the Sultans, Back Off Cupid and Pitchfork.

Not to mention record Producer, Label Owner and sporter of most-excellent sideburns.
