balls. on this site, my man 35 has BALLS. and respect. from me. I like them, used to like them more, still like them but am getting sick of it, and sick of people telling me they like them because of the singles. bleh. I wish all the bands in the world all the success in the world, really. but seing any band make it all big and stuff in front of you is always ugly, no matter how much you like them
-it's usually worse when you really do like them alot beforehand.

i really like them. i must admit..mostly cos of megs tatas. but i like the music. i think they're mediocre musicians, but the lyrics i dig a lot. the fact that they're becoming famous so fast isn't their "fault" so chill out on that shit.

Yeah I agree...the guy is a good writer but the bluesy sound of most of their tracks kinda bores me. Still, tho, they could evolve into sumpin innerestin...ya never know.

i was out and missed snl, but i really enjoy them. it's sort of unexplainable.

i don't, however, understand the fascination with meg. take away her drums .. do you still want her?

oh, and let me guess, she'd be the perfect SG, right? wink

Did anyone hear the thing Jeff McDonald from Redd Kross did where he added bass to their album? It turned out really cool! I've got all the tracks if anyone is interested.

im with 37 on meg. not my bag. i may be showing my age a bit, but i have enjoyed watching bjork grow from the sugar cubes into the beautiful fairy queen that she today. Her rise wasnt always pretty but her talent is pure and uncorruptable... with the red stripes- there music works well surrounded by artfags and sgtypes in a small joint after a few beers not on national broadcast. its unnatural.

Um... Meg is like one of the worst drummers ever. Take away the drums and I like her more.

As a side note, those two are very nice people and I couldn't be happier that they are so widely excepted. They are friends of friends of mine and I've always had a great time with them.

Besides, I'd much rather have them make it big than another freakin' boy band or stupid urban soul singer or some of this new country crap.

i kind of think the same thing, not as much as ripping them off as much as sounding a whole lot like them and getting credited for the crazy new garage sound... not to take anything away from them or the hives or vines or whatever buzzbin band that has this garage-y sound, but its not like it hasn't been done before... fuck, mudhoney sounds garage-y, but in the 90's they were labeled grunge... fuck the media and their need to label...

I've always been hot & cold w/ the Stripes - but it kinda seems like they're going through the motions these days. Jack's vocal inflections and facial expressions looked forced, like he was performing in a musical. Seems to have lost that "soulful" esscence somewhere along the way. I'm not the sort of person to scream sellout at a band's success - I'm all for it, hell, they deserve it - but not being too impressed w/ their last LP, and a lukewarm performance just ain't gonna cut it for me...
