self classification

stuff ya probably never heard of. if they know "my" kinds of music, i'll just name the bands i listened to in the last 2 or 3 days.

that question kind of bores me, so i have a prepared answer: "a lot of different things... mostly rock, but bits and pieces of practically anything else"

i prefer bringing up conversations about certain specific types of music or specific bands rather than music as a whole unless a conversation drifts into it.

"Good ol' rock n' roll..." That usually shuts 'em up. If it's a cute girl, though, I usually respond with "oh, whatever my band is covering right now..."

i say "music". and then they say "what kinds?" and i say "eh, whatever i feel like".

then i name off a few really random and unconnected bands.

i say just about everything...then name off a few bands that theyve never heard of, because im a snobbish scenster like that.

I say Everything from KMFDM to Jethro Tull, back around to Country Music like "dont take the girl" then right back around to Gregorian Chant

that music isn't really my thing, and i haven't listened to anything new since 1995

it's difficult explaining this to people...i usually say anything thats not country, rap/hip-hop/whatever the hell you want to call it, or any crap thats on the radio

There are so many music classifications now a days that I don't even bother. I just say it depends on my mood. Hell, I don't even know what Grand Musical Category most of my CD's fall into

almost word for word every time:
"ugh. I listen to ALOT of music, I want ot say almost anything, but I guess it's like mostly punkish, rock kind of stuff..but like some stufff that might be "pop", or "pop-punk" or whatever...umm...and I guess alot of peopel would say I listen to emo stuf but that's a whole other issue of classifying stuff...and I love old jaqzz and stuff like that too, and I like some rap, I'm not into REALLY heavy stuff or like gangster rap, but sometimes if it's funyn enough to me or is godo rapping...I just listen to a lot of different music but a lot of punk lkind of stuff I guess."
-then they usually act like they got WAY to much info (because htey did, they were only making small talk), and they run away and I get sad.
