Okay here are the lyrics and why i think this is one of the lamest songs

I'm not a perfect person ----who the hell is perfect?

this guy's reason for being a better person is someone he is breaking up with.. that is bogus! he should of been the better person to begin with and his reason should be himself. the moment someone else has to carry the burden for you doing what you should, thats the moment you give yourself a built in excuse to fuck up. what happens when your reason(the other person) doesn't live upto your ideals? when your reason does something shitty? well now you can be an asshole again, right?

i think you've given this band too much credit , not only by the fact that you listened to the song, let alone that you tried to interpret this trash

This song makes me want to stick rusty nails in my ears and broken glass in my underpants.

It sells records, which in turn gets played on the radio, which in turn gets him fans...many of them women because of his appeal as a rocker they'd like to bone...So on tour, after banging groupie after groupie, he realized...Each one is making him a better lay for the next one...Thus, the birth of this very touching, very heatfelt song of one night stands...

Now, all of you, on with your lives...

I just hate the song because it's boring, unoriginal and gets overplayed more than any other song lately.

Well yeah if you pic k every song apart like that I'm sure a great percentage of all songs you like would be considered crap. I think it's pretty obvious that most pop songs don't really have much substance to them.

I, personally, am so sick of hearing the damn song.

It does get overplayed!!! I couldn't help tear it apart cuz some young girls i know that actually like this song. eeewww and because its on the radio (i'm lazy and don't have my fave cd's in the car) i've heard enough times to actually put into words whats wrong with it.

I saw the video, and I watched the whole thing just to find out who the band was. I didn't like the song, and I was doubly disappointed to find out that I had wasted four minutes watching a hoobastank video

I understand there are those that will like the song, even if i can't but i didn't need to pick it apart too much - for me it sucked to begin with.

As for ANYTHING sucking, if picked apart? now i have to disagree. John lennon wrote some kick ass songs, i defy you to pick apart 'Come together' or 'Imagine"

Well i didn't randomly take a line. i took the essence of the song, the whole idea, and said it is lame. *here comes my opinion- ya i know obvious but this is the obligatory i don't want to offend you thing to say* His making himself better for her, his reason being her, is lame. a person's being a good person or bettering themselves should not be dependant on another person. for what happens when that other person does something shitty? or no longer lives upto this pedistal of perfection? a person should be a better person for them self. for it is in truely loving oneself that one can grow to really love unconditionally others.

As for your remarks on 'Come together"

Some might say its about homeless people on the street not being so different from you and me. I've also heard some say its a slam on Paul, at this point in their careers, the Beatles were very hostile and falling apart. If it were of those lyrics that point to Paul are: Here comes old flattop (Paul wore a flat top
hairstyle in the pre-Beatles days. He wear no shoeshine (Abbey Road -
Paul has no shoes). He got monkey finger (a bass player usually has
walking fingers that go all over the place.) He say "I know you, you
know me" You say yes, I say no ... John was very critical of Paul's
lyrics and deemed them banal. Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard
to see Paul the cute one.
Basically, the song has alot of meaning for its author and gives to a number of interpretations. Its not generic, or simple but highly complex with vivid imagery and has lasted the decades.
I doubt very many ppl will really even remember the name of Hooberskanks song, much less their band name.

Lyrics are over-rated. Motorcycle Emptiness makes toss-all sense (even the guy who wrote it said so) but is simply one of the greatest songs ever.
