Just currently REALLY mourning the loss of Audiogalaxy. frown
it really wasn't jsut about stealing music to avoid paying for it for me. I was turned on to SO much new music through discussions and recomendations and articles on that system that I cna't even explain. the internet and it's mp3 ability turned me on to music in the way I currently am. ther are at least 100 new bands I know abotu because of internet radio and AG, and now it 's all goign to go dead because the RIAA wants more money that they'll never give to the artists anyway.
- mad , but frown as well... I love you, Audiogalaxy of the past.

I think that that was a true mistake of the record companies -- sure there are some folks that would only download and listen to music on their computers/burner copies but there are planty of compulsives about that used AG as a tool to seek out and sample new music. If it was to the tastes, then sure I'd still go and purchase the thing. I, for one, enjoy packaging and cover art, etc. just as much as the music contained therein.

Yep, I miss AG too. Now i use WinMX, it's nowhere near as good as AG, but I still find lotsa good stuff.

Why isn't anyone using Kazaa Lite? I can find anything I'm looking for and there's no Spyware at all.
It also comes with the Speed-Up utility that automatically finds the most sources for your download.

Kazaa is a computer destroying monster, but Kazaa Lite is everything I could want from a Peer2Peer program.

I've used Kazaalite, but I have trouble finding much of anything obscure there. I do use it to d/l episodes of the Sopranos, They had the first 4 episodes there before the 1st one even aired. I'm getting pretty good results with WinMx when it comes to music, and I like the "ignore" feature, it's comes in handy when someone's leeching and not sharing stuff.

audiogalaxy was officially the shit...i'm using kazaa lite now, it's straight, not as dynamic as audiogalaxy unfortunately. do any of you know any other programs of similar caliber? i've been searching endlessly with no success.

if you have more obscure musical tastes or want to download full albums, soulseek is the app for you! there's no spyware and it's free. it's the file-sharing network for music fanatics and has a lot of pre-release albums. as well, there's an integrated chat with rooms for different genres. the only downside is that your requests get remotely queued alot, but it's never taken me more than a day to get a full album. check it:

damn my mac to the fiery pits of hell. I used ot be able to use AG n my virtual pc with no problems, but big programs like kazaa never worked, plus everyone and their ass is on kazaa, so you get goofballs putting skips in songs all the time or mislabellign to mess with people because it's funyn ot them...and you can never find full albums or non-mainstream people to my findings
-matters not, because I can't do it on my macamajig, but soulseek soiunds pretty neat, and looks pretty underground.
-I Heart AG...they made no stickers, or I'd be puttin' them on my car.

or you could always get virtual pc-like every other normal person. i recently converted to a mac cause my computer was broken-and then not hooked up-and now it works-so i'm back in pc hell-but i still use the mac when it's available-and for soulseek-cause it's buggy as hell and i don't want that screwing with my hard drive again. oh and just for everyone that hasn'ty heard-stay away from grokster! it's evil. it was only on my computer for 2 days and it started fucking everything up-luckily people around me aren't quite as idiotic as i can be so they helped me save it before anything major happened. don't ever let it near you.

dammit damit dammit. my macinpoo is not fancy enoughto upgrade to X, so all the new and fancy things that are coming out to make macs nice again are unavailable. grr...this is why when I get a job, my roommate's friend will beuild me a pc for like 300 dollars, and I will be able to run everything and it will be just fine, as well as cheap. it's won't be as beautiful, but it wont suck.
-don't get me wrong, I lvoe macs, btu I can't shell out 3billion dollars to get a new one.

Hey Dave - why don't you shop around for a nice B&W G3 400 or 450? That's what I have and it runs OSX like a clock.

I have the beige G3 333. acording to apple, they sue their magic "built in USB" classification for whether or not you can run X. my box has usb but I installed it myself. the beige's are officially sad and lame now.
