My ex-girlfriend's father got me hooked on them. This was especially funny since my ex-girlfriend's father was a minister. He was also a big South Park fan. That man was weird.

Ah, if only he knew I was fucking his daughter.

A friend of mine did some music with Wayne Kramer and he was a real fucking shithead.
Anyways, he's dead - so that kind of puts the kibosh on any reunion.

I'm looking forward to seeing the flim and the reunion tour.. well here is what I found at
the I 94 Bar

ORIGINAL MC5 MEMBERS TO TOUR AUSTRALIA
The MC5 were indisputably one of the most influential rock bands of all time, though only three years elapsed between their ridiculously controversial debut "Kick Out The Jams" and their demise in 1972. Thirty years later, surviving founding members Wayne Kramer (guitar), Dennis Thompson (drums) and Michael Davis (bass) came together in March 2003 for a show at LondonÕs famed 100 Club. Joining them were guests including MotorheadÕs Lemmy, The DamnedÕs Dave Vanian, Ian Astbury and The HellacoptersÕ Nicke Royale. Now, that legendary concertÑalong with never-before-seen footage including an original master tape transfer of Leni and John SinclairÕs promotional video "Kick Out The Jams", interviews, archival footage, home movies and old videos with brand new commentary by the Davis, Kramer and ThompsonÑis captured on a forthcoming DVD "Sonic Revolution: A Celebration of the MC5", to hit stores July 6. The DVD even includes U.S. Dept. of Defense footage of the MC5, taken from the governmentÕs investigation of the notorious rock group during 1968Õs Democratic National Convention.

In celebration of both their music and their legacy, DKT/MC5 will begin a worldwide tour this June that includes a stop in their hometown of Detroit as well as Japan, Australia, Canada and Europe, in addition to major cities across most of North America. As they did in London last year, they will be joined by a rotating cast of guest musicians, making each show a singular celebration of the work of the MC5. Dates will be announced soon. To date, guests confirmed are Evan Dando (Lemonheads), Nicke Royale, Marshall Crenshaw, Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman) and Mark Arm (Mudhoney).

FOOTNOTE: We were highly critical of the way the 100 Club show came together, observing that corporate sponsorship by Levi's potentially did not sit well with the MC5's fan base. Having seen a 30-minute UK documentary on the event, we can attest that the show itself is mostly scorching. Will the I-94 Bar be at the Australian shows? You bet.

That is so cool. It may seem somewhat incongruous to some, but Marshall is from Michigan and is a big fan of Detroit/Ann Arbor rock. You can find a great live cover of the MC5's 'Tonight" on his My Truck Is My Home CD. Last time I saw him, he did a smoking version of the Amboy Dukes' "Journey to the Center of the Mind."

I have to agree, though the 5 are one of my favorites. Two different bands with two different styles but equally important historically.

Dennis Thompson is one of the most underrated drummers EVER.
