I'm interviewing Marky Ramone next week and would love to know get some genuinely interesting questions for him. Not the usual 'so, you were in the Ramones! Do you have a leather jacket on right this second?!?!111!'
This is my second interview ever (my first was this week), and my knowledge of the Ramones isn't what it could be. I've been trying to hook myself up with some info on the scene, reading about the links between Bowie, New York Dolls, etc. etc.
So like, as a Ramones fan, what would you wanna' know from an interview? Cheers and beers.

"Is your Ramone wig nylon, or actual human hair?"

Edited to add: "Whose cock hurt more going in... Ivan Julian's or Dee Dee's?"

Marky is Marc Bell...he played drums in the '70s for a band called Dust that put out two albums (Dust and Hard Attack) before joining Richard Hell & the Voidoids. He appears on the classic Hell album Blank Generation as well as other recordings that saw release in later years on archival collections. He was fired from the Ramones in the early '80s because his alcohol abuse was totally out of control...he even missed a show, which was completely unheard of and inexcusable in the Ramones. He cleaned up and rejoined in the late '80s and was wtih them up until the '96 break-up. Recently he's been with Marky Ramone & the Intruders.

Cheers, thanks for the info.

Any questions that should be asked though?

Read interviews with him from the last 5-10 years and ask things that wasn't covered. Don't ever ever ever ever interupt him.

If you think he has more to say about something but he's keeping quiet, do this little trick.

Marky: "...repeat the last three words"
You: "...the last three words?"
Marky: "yes, because it prompts me to keep talking!"

It really works. Try it out.

Who has the rights for Blitzkreig Bop? because it seems as though every single commercial now-a-days plays that song in their ad.

How the fuck can you not know who the Ramones are?!
They're a family headed by some psycho and they killed some people like Roman Polanski's wife or something in a house in Los Angeles.

Bloody hell.

No, the Torkelsons were the ones that killed my desire to watch TV.

Ask him if he remembered the horible instore at MurMur records in orlando florida w/ a bad turnout when someone asked them to sign a Wham album and they drew a little hitler moustache on it.

I'd ask him who his influences were, if they were actively concious of the surfrock sound.

If they thought they would be so influential to so many other power-pop bands, and if he plans on furthering his music carreer.

I've met all of them, and they are a freakish lot. Cranky too. Ad Joey ramone is as tall as Manute Bol.

i've met and hung out with marky a couple of times...he's a really good guy, he'll probably answer whatever you ask him.

if you get the chance, ask him what bands he's currently working with (last time i saw him, he was producing some bands)...and ask him if he remembers seeing The Fad at BB King's.
