What are the 5 bands that dont exist anymore, or that are different from their best line-up, that you wish you could have seen?

AC/DC with Bon Scott
Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five
Black Flag before Henry lame ass Rollins
Queen
The Beatles in Hamburg

I was AT the last Beatles show at Candlestick Park, but it was a few months before I was born . My grandfather was a pretty big lawyer in SF and got special VIP passes for my 20 year old single mama. She got to meet them and everything. She said John was very rude and said, "What're you doing HERE like THAT?", but Ringo and Paul were very nice and George just disappered with some girl. I just hope I inherit the autographs someday!

Big Black!

Early Butthole Surfers. Fucking pandemonium, from what I have heard. Anyone know of any videos?

The Beatles. Obvious, but come on! It's The Beatles!

I saw Buddy Rich! It was way cool. In SF at the Great American Music Hall about 1985. My drummer freak friend and I sat in the balcony RIGHT above him. It was toally amazing! I've never seen anyone so wrapped up in rhythm - every single move he made was percussive. I just can't say enough about how cool it was!

The only thing missing was him blowing out and firing someone right on the spot.

I used to have a box full of flyers from just about every punk show I ever went to - man there was some amazing stuff. They got stolen (with most of my records) by some skinhead chick in LA. Wherever you are Jamie, FUCK YOU! mad mad mad

It'll take me a minute to think of all of them, but let's see..

Rudimentary Peni. Sure technically they're still around, but how often do they play shows? Just about never. And I'm damn sure they've never played in the states in the 20+ years they've been together.

Also the Futurist music performance (I think it's by Bailila Pratella) in the 20's in Italy where the crowd kept yelling at the performers to stop through the whole show. Then the musicians jumped into the crowd and beat everyone up. Excellent fun.

Joyrider: I'm glad you empathize. Sometimes, when I listen to them, I honestly get upset. My favorite band in the whole world, and I will NEVER see them live. It gives me heart cramps.

Boneyardfff: I was Buddy Holly in my past life. I swear on my soul, I was. I usually don't make outlandish claims like that, but I was. Honestly. I shit you not. There is no sarcasm here.

Bands I'd died to have seen
Joy Division. Period. I could live without the rest..

Well I had to reconsider some important ones that slipped my mind:
The Velvets in 1966
The Stooges
MC5
New York Dolls

Nick Drake - If you don't own a Nick Drake record (or at least a CD) well...that may constitute a serious music faux pax

Sex Pistols in '77 London
Clash in '78
Bowie anytime during the '70's

Living in Mpls during the early mid '80's had its advantages of attracting many indie/ punk bands -as it was a "hot scene" like Seattle became in the late 80's - so there very few "big" shows I missed.

I was told I saw Nirvana by some friend of mine. When that Teen Spirit song was out (I remember it because it was the day that Paula from the Pandora's died and they announced it on KALX) I asked who it was and he said that it was Nirvana, who we had seen at the Chatterbox. I remembered the night but I couldn't recall a thing about the band. Must have been 88 or 89. I was drunk most of the time then.
