That was dissapointing. I actually thought it was going to be a Psychobilly band not a 16 year old mall punk band. That's like having a link to something about Pavarotti and it's really about Dom Delouise.

Anyway if you liked this band feel free to go to my message board ( The Syracuse Punk Page ) and you can look at and reply to the banter of 14-19 year old suburban punk kids instead of the SG boards.

Did you really think it was gonna be a psychobilly band if they couldn't even spell psychobilly right in the first place?

My guitarist is obsessed with the new school psychobilly shit. It drives me insane. I hate when bands in a particular style of music follow 'the rules' for the said style. Gotta have the same kind of tattoos, the same song subjects, same standup bass slap, and the same haircuts.

I have to say, I like Tiger Army well enough. And Rev. Horton Heat is tight. And the Gub Club were cool. And some others (Tav Falco, Mojo Nixon).

But most of it...well, sucks. At least alot of what I have heard. It's just standard punk with the some country/rockabilly riffs thrown in.

To me, nothing comes close to the heyday of The Cramps. And I hate saying that. But it's true.

But if anybody wants to educate, I'd be more than happy to give a try.

calm yourself. if someone doesn't like the music... guess what... it's OK! i don't like the Beatles, or Metallica... and a lot of people give me shit for it. Big whoopty fuck. and a lot of the time age DOES play a factor in how well music is played, namely when you're dealing with teenagers. so i think they were being judged on they're musical talents... and not well recieved. don't worry. when it comes to media sucess and record deals, SG boards carry about as much weight as the "12 inches of Snow" cd i have in my cd case.

I'm with you there man. Psychobilly started and pretty much finished with the Cramps. Just like synth-punk started and finished with Suicide. Bands that made their own genre.. but no one could quite be as talented as the originals.

There's a really good piece on the Cramps in the Wire a month or 2 ago. An Invisible Jukebox interview.

Like the history of punk, that's very arguable. I'm a big Cramps fan, but I believe it really started with The Meteors. Not that anyone really gives a shit though. Otherwise, if you like traditional psychobilly, check out Bloodshot Bill. He is AMAZING, and he plays guitar, bass drum and hi-hat, and sings, all by his lonesome. And it's crazy good. Also, check out The Tremors and the AlleyDukes. All three of those are pretty small bands, but I think they all have a MySpace or you can search for them on google.

I like the Horrorpops (they count don't they?) but that's about it.

Isn't the psychobilly scene very violent?

The Horrorpops don't count for anything. And neither do Nekromantix.

Agreed and agreed. Horrorpops actually count less then the Nekromantix do. I don't even think they try. And no, the psychobilly scene isn't necessarily that violent, at least not towards it's own kind. However, if you piss off a psychobilly kid, you may have a switchblade or brass knuckles in your very near future. It's actually a very fun subculture, but they can be a little...shall we say...ruthless?
