You can stop worrying; Happy Mondays cheerleader and drug sponge Bez is alive and well. I suppose "well" is debatable. He is alive, however, and will soon be shaking his maracas again.

Apparently the infamous band of 24-hour party people have completed a new album that will see the light of day this summer. The NME spoke to humble bandleader Shaun Ryder who seems eager to get the record into the hands of fans.

The band worked with DJ/producer Howie B. (Bjork, Tricky) and Quincy Jones' grandson Sammy Levine, so expect another club-friendly affair. Whether or not the duo was able to update the band's sound for the new millenium remains to be seen.

Ryder and the rest of his happy hooligans also have plans to take their party on the road. The Mondays will debuting a good portion of the new album at this year's Coachella festival and have announced a string of UK dates at the end of May. Rave on, fellas, rave on.

The good news is that it cannot possibly be worse than their last one.
