DWI charges are a specialty for tired celebrities, rappers and evidently hippie jam-band icons. Early Friday morning, ex-Phish leader Trey Anastasio was arrested in upsate New York for driving under the influence.



Apparently Trey was "failing to keep right of the center line" or "swerving all over the fucking road" as it's more popularly known, and was pulled over by state troopers. If there's anything a state trooper doesn't like, it's an aging hippie that can't stay in his lane. The cops found hydrocodone, Percocet and Xanax which, of course, were not prescribed to Anastasio and he proceeded to flunk a sobriety test.



As to be expected, Trey was booked and released, but will be expected to make a court appearance in the future. Trey recently released a solo record called Bar 17 on his own label and has plans to play some shows at the end of the month ... assuming he doesn't commit vehicular manslaughter before then.

What I don't understand about these people getting DUIs and DWIs is why don't they have drivers or limo service when they want to go on benders? They are loaded so it's not like they can't afford it and they can probably even write it off somehow!

I went to college a stone's throw away from where he was. Good ol' Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. I think he got arrested in Whitehall, NY, just over the border. NOT good roads to get fucked up and drive on, not that there are any good roads to do so, but there's absolutely no lights, and the roads twist and turn a lot of the time. Definitely a bad decision, and he's lucky he didn't kill anybody.

Well he also can't write lyrics for shit, so why polish a turd?
