I should elaborate ...

I've only seen one episode. It was that chubby black girl who was all self-important?

Her mom spends over $100,000 for a party AND she gets a new car, and she's still all cranky and bitchy?!?!?

I wanted to kill her two minutes into the show.

I saw the episode with the self-important chubby girl... OH MY GOD. There's no way that chick was a real person. Or, like, what's up with that school? I went to kind of a ritzy private school, and I can tell you right now that bullshit would NOT fly - with anyone. That girl would've been ostricized for her weight issues alone, so there's no conceivable way she would've gotten away with owning the school, being head of a popular clique, having everyone afraid of her... I know that's terrible, but this is high school we're talking about, so let's be honest. High school kids aren't nice (obviously).

But that girl's situation totally baffled me. Oh, and why did she insist on dressing like her mom? Like, what was that?

I caught the tail end of this show on MTV2 the other night while waiting for Wonder Showzen to come on. Oh god, it was horrible. Picture this: whiney, spoiled brat walking around bitching and moaning because everyone is late to her ridiculously extravagant sixteenth birthday party and she cannot "make an entrance". This party must have cost her delusional shithead parents at LEAST 50 grand. There have been few moments where I have hated television as much as I did then. I wanted to reach through the idiot box and strangle that little twat.

What a wonderful way to entertain our impressionable youth: make a show that unabashedly hypes up materialism to the fullest and glorifies stupid, disgusting human beings with even more undeserved attention. blarg.

That's the one I saw! Although I only caught the tail end I am guessing that if people were nice to her and she was in fact "popular", it was because she was loaded and they could get something out of her, i.e. an invite to her stupid party.

I dunno, most people at my school would've boycotted the party of someone like that (unless their parents made them go). Or in one case, a girl who was actually popular intentionally threw a party the same night, so everyone went to that.

Maybe all those kids just wanted to be on MTV. Either way, the girl is delusional, and her mom's crazy ass-kissing is to blame.

I don't even remember what I did for my 16th birthday... I was probably grounded. And I sure as fuck did NOT get my own car. In fact, my parents wouldn't even let me drive one of theirs til I was nearly 18.

You make a good point. I did not attend private school and the school I did go to didn't have many rich kids (they all went to the $6,000/year private school a few miles away) so I have no fucking clue how the social structure works when you throw all that money into the mix...which makes it even more confusing as to why people put up with that girl's asinine bullshit, she did not seem nearly cute/charming/smart/witty/etc enough to garner any positive attention at all from her peers. I think you're right, they were probably stoked to be on MTV or something.

When these kids get older and have their old children, perhaps their aggression and self-obession will get taken out on their children, who if they have any brains (enlightnment through suffering I guess) will either hate or be beaten into submission by these parents and we will have a quiet, orderly generation. Either that or so many of them will slash up mom and dad that the prison system will fail and they'll just make it legal.

Wake me up then, thnx.

I Think the whole point of the show is to show america the fucking assholes that control the money act like. They throw 1/2 million dollar parties and invite 100s so there Prince or Princess can act like its there blessings that they are bestowing on these people. It makes me really wish I was canadian or something else to see these kids like this, yet I cant look away, like a car crash. I feel internally compelled to watch the virus these kids carry spread. blackeyed

I don't know if it's a new season now, but a while ago I saw one starring a guy. I felt so bad for his dad who was obviously trying to buy his son's affection and had this look of angry, frustrated desperation in his eyes. Ha ha.
