Yes. Yes you are the only person who doesn't like LOTR. now go away.

Though Harry Potter does suck.

East Side R3pRAs3nT.

I should note that not liking the books, I think is a bit strange. I can understand not liking the movies. And the first comment was in gest.

I am with you JohnFM1

What is the point of watching movies where they are running for 9 fuckin hours...really there was what? one hour of non-running in the movies? I had the unfortunate displeasure of watching the extended versions too.

I will never read the books, tried once.Thought they sucked then, and now? After three movies that took up one 1/3 of a day where I could have been spending more time here!

Another question: When did they forget physics in LOTR? Gimli is thrown against an orc and he doesn't bounce back or anything just gets up and starts flailing away. Physics say he should have bounced back a bit and fell down off the bridge. Nevermind the other glitches in the series.

I know some people who didn't like Tolkien's writing style and as such didn't like the books.

Really, though, if you enjoy anything to do with modern fantasy you at least owe the books some respect, if only for popularizing the whole thing and making it at least moderately acceptable as a genre.

Personally I disliked the 'Return of the King' movie immensly. They made the whole end of the war look like a damned cake walk. Totally killed any real sense of drama.

I don't like them...I DETEST them and all the cronies that dressup for the movies too. One of my customers here dressed up in over 10k in stuff just to be as "authentic" as possible. I call it as autistic as possible. Seriously LOTR fans are in the same league as SW and ST fans. Next they will have a language of their own and people will talk it...oh wait that happened already. OR next they will start a religion somewhere based after it.(that too probably has already happened)

They were a waste of nine hours of my life, thank god I didn't read the tripe too. I don't need to hear about some wino in the woods that is magical on top of the non-stop running freaks

I first tried the books when I was quite young and couldn't get into them.
I finally fought my way through them a few years before the movie came out and wished I hadn't bothered.

Now I regularly drink in the pub where Tolkein used to meet with CS Lewis...if they were still here I'd give them a piece of my mind!

I paid attention to that because...well the movie blew goats. I was hoping the damn fellowship was going to die. I was frustrated when they didn't.

I just noticed previously that every time I posted the words "You are a Bush supporter." and said nothing else, the people got angry and took offense, which I felt was very humorous, because usually when you make a simple statement about someone supporting what they believe in, with no other connotations attached to it, they would naturally say..."Yes. This is what I stand for, what is your point?" But I have noticed that the Bush supporters tend to be more like "Hey FUCK YOU DOUCHE LIBERAL!!!" thus hinting at some deeper and inherintly more humorous issues.

So I am just saying that to anyone for a few days, as even Republicans seem to think it is an insult. It's the new "Yo momma!"

It is. Try saying it in one of the political threads. I know one member that will jump right on it. He totally loves Bush.

BTW>I am in Canada, hard to take offence to Bush. Now try us with Mulroney and then you got some swearing Canucks on your hands

never read the books, got half way through the Hobbit once....nothing to do with the books per se.I just dont read very much at all. However, i saw some of one of the movies and thought it was weak as piss. dunno which one it was,it was on TV. oh and dont give me all that "you have to see it on the big screen" bollocks because if it was really that good it shouldnt have to rely on that......Although Cate and Liv look kinda cute with pointy ears.
