Thanks to the fact that public nudity is not a crime in San Francisco, George Monty Davis (a.k.a. Naked Yoga Guy) can continue to promote his lifestyle and book by striking yoga poses -- while nude -- on the streets of San Francisco.

"Simply being naked on the street is not a crime in San Francisco," said Debbie Mesloh, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

"To bring a case, a person would have to exhibit lewd behavior, block traffic or impede pedestrians on a sidewalk, something along those lines."

This guy is bringing the phrase "rock out with your cock out" to new, more bendy and spiritual levels.

Edited because I forgot the karma...er... comma.

That's all well and good, but the last thing i want to see walking around the streets is some naked dude striking a pose and seeing his brown-eye or penis flapping about. And i'm sure children would rather not as well.

Is, say, naked sunbathing legal in SF?

judging by the article i'd say yes, as long as you're not holding up traffic.
i wonder if you're a really beautifull woman sunning naked and cars are stopping to stare at you, does that count as holding up traffic and thereby a offense?

Hehehe I just posted a photoset called Naked Yoga in Suicide Boys to help honor and appreciate George Monty Davis. Naked yoga is the best kind of yoga, and it's the most freeing. smile

Hmmm. The quote from the DA's office would seem to indicate that all the beaches in SF (under the city's control) would therefore be clothing-optional. (Baker Beach, which is Federal land under the control of the National Park Service, is already clothing-optional in part by unwritten understanding.)

I'm going to Folsom Street Fair on Sunday... will we see more nudity than usual?

The bums in San Fran aren't bad. Some are actually entertaining. Wouldn't want to see them nude though.
