Secret Photoshop Agent and resident Fashion Icon Zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo Wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Undaunted by unusual combinations, "What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

Zo says: I rid myself of a majority of clothing with grommets and straps after working at a big spooky shop some years ago, having developed a distaste for the way clothing labels seem to spew cheap metal accents all over the most mundane or unsightly pieces in an effort to make them "alternative." The average 11-year-old doesn't seem to mind, after all. Down with use of diaper pins in mini-skirts! Perish, enormous pants with chain suspenders which kids might be tripping over this very moment! No more. I'm over it. And besides, occasional metal buttons, hooks and eyes, and aged zippers better suit my fancy these days.

This said, a few D-ringed items do remain in my closet, waiting to be used, as I like going a overboard with accents once in a while. Here, four fairly detailed layers, pinstripes, shiny metal and Very Big Shoes make one of my favorite types of outfits. All that's missing here is a good tailored jacket—but LA weather, she's a cruel mistress.

Jackety dress—$40, Downtown Fashion District.
Vest—$8, Hot Topic clearance [got two with intent of bleaching or dyeing the second one].
3/4 length pants—Lip Service.
Boots—Kirara.

Zoetica Ebb is a painter, SG style technician, make up artist, alt. model, photgrapher & occasional cosmonomad. Born in Moscow, Russia, she was raised by a troup of gypsy scientists from space, who coldly sold her to an American technological research facility in 1992. After a daring escape, she graduated from the LA County High School for the Arts, retreated into the rumored underground atelier where she studied with the much-revered fashion guru Madame Von Kuntzertag, followed by a brief stint at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She's traveled the world, gathering fashion expertise and is thrice certified as official Finesse Monitor to the Khan throne. She hates it when humans tell her to smile. Oh, I'm so envious of your proximity to the Downtown Fashion District!!! When I lived with my parents in the 80's, my mom would take me there.

I am in love with the jackety dress... that was a total score. Overall, I loved the outfit... and I thoroughlly enjoyed your commentary! Thanks! smile

It is a dangerous luxury, this fashion district closeness. That place is a money-sucking vortex! ^__*

I love this one...
you belong in northern europe, or some place of that nature...where you can wear as many layers as you like.
^__^

my favorite part is the jackety dress.
