Frisco, San Fran, 'Cisco, S.F. ...

When I sold door-to-door here in San Diego I talked to a guy (a SuicideGirls member - didn't catch his name) who was from the Bay Area. His girlfriend was not, and he and she had argued about how you're supposed to refer to San Francisco. We both agreed that 'Frisco' is unacceptable; that it is what tourists call it when they're trying to hide their doughy tourist identities. We in fact felt the same way about San Fran, 'Cisco *shudder*, and S.F.

What is the appropriate nomenclature? When I grew up in Concord it was either San Francisco or the City.

You either call it San Francisco or The City or you name the neighborhood you are going to.

I am going into the city, I have to pick up Jeff in the Sunset, then were going to North Beach for drinks then to the Mission to see a show the to a club in SoMa and there's some party in Noe Valley after. I'm going to crash at my friend's place in the Excelsior and go to breakfast in the Lower Haight tomorrow.

My dad grew up in Cole Valley and worked out in the Richmond. I lived in the Western Addition and Upper Market, near the Castro, and worked in the Marina. My girlfriend lived in Mary Ward at State and later moved to Diamond Heights. She worked on Potrero Hill.

San Francisco is a fine neighborhood town!

It's actually illegal to call it "Frisco," and the penalty is $25.

I always called it The City when I lived up north. Now it's San Francisco.

It's all the above! I say call it whatever you want as long as I know what your talking about. I once met an old Hells angel that had Frico tattoed across his chest. The artist obviously fucked up but since then thats what I call it

Yea San Fran does sounds a little dumb. But I guess I never really took the time to think about it till now.

when i lived in jersey it was "san francisco"

when i lived n jersey, NYC was "the city"
now it's new york city
