Given a free account by secret Santa

Yesterday I was sent an email from SG that someone had renewed my account under the name CreativeJuice. When I tried to activate the account it refused that name so I just picked this one. Now not only am I wondering who arranged this, but if they'll be able to find me now with a different name. If you know who you are please respond.

Dude...same here. But I managed to log in under my old account name. I'm not sure if SG just wants to boost #'s and invited old members back, or if someone actually knew that I existed... Hmmm. I don't think anyone knows I exist, so I'm betting on SG

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, but I don't know who would possibly be nice enough to do that for me. Oh well, I've been making good use of it anyway!

hmm i just got that email too and had to restart my acct with a new name as well.

it's just an incentive to draw us back and become paying members again. very tempting :-p

You can add me to the list. I hadn't had an account for almost three years before this one. So I found it odd that someone would give me a renewal. Did have to make a new account though.

I got sent a renewal for my account too, I assumed it was a christmas present from a friend [one knew my account details, and it's just like her], but now i'm kinda wondering having read this. Think i will renew my sub in three months though.

I remember SG doing the same thing maybe about a year or so ago. Spontaneously resurrected a glut of super old-school accounts, people who hadn't been on the site since like 2004 or something ridiculous. (I know it doesn't sound like that long a time, but in internet years that's like two decades) There was a thread, and now I wish I could find it...I think it was on the Everything SG board though.

Wow. My account was renewed by an anonymous someone, and I too could not get in under my old account...Hence the #2 now at the end of my name. I did that so maybe my secret renewer could find me, but it looks like it may have just been SG. I'm happy to be back, but I was hoping that one of my SG friends loved me so much they'd pay for me.

I've done this once or twice for people I like... nobody I've seen listed on here though...

It happened to one of my mates too - he checked his email on my laptop and was like "Did you renew my account?"
"Uhhh... no?"

He didn't do too much when he was here last time, so couldn't think of anyone who would renew his account. Must be SG and their goodwill, I reckon.
