I know there have been philly threads in the past ...

I know i'm new to the site... just been a member for like half a year now

All I'm making this post for is because of the lack of events I've seen around the Philly area for us all to go out have some drinks... ok a few drinks blush

I've been watching for the SGPHILLY group to post an event, but it never seems to happen... frown frown frown frown

..... i think you get the point... so

If anyone is actually interested just post here kiss

I only know a few of the Philly area people on here, I'd like a chance to meet some of them if it's a time/place I can make.

At some point I was interested in joining SG Philly, and I asked somebody from the group about it. She said she'd let me know next time there was an open event and I could meet people. That was probably like a year ago and still no word.

"She said she'd let me know next time there was an open event and I could meet people."

yeah, theres a problem in that: we dont have enough locals to have regular events, but at the same time, the must attend a meeting to join the group is useful and understandable. but, as SBB said, its an awfully hard group to join... ive also tried to join, but i had other things going on in the two open event nights ive known about.

Anyone been to Fast Cheap and Out of Control? It's at Fluid on Sunday nights. I have been known to DJ there every once in awhile. There's a stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor and the dancers wear crazy outfits and get semi naked on it! The crowd is pretty cool. If you guys wanna go I'd be down

I know that y'all really prefer strip clubs to yoga, but perhaps I can get you to come out for massage by donation? (of course, if you come by, you heard about this on myspace)

Thai Massage Open House
Saturday, June 28th, noon to 4pm
Main Line Yoga
66 Rittenhouse Place
Ardmore, PA 19003
Main Line Yoga
610-645-7900

Are you curious about Thai massage? Stop by on saturday afternoon, and get a liitle work done. The graduates of our Thai Massage Intensive are eager to get a liitle experience, and they decided that they wanted to have an open house. We are going to set up a number of mats, and there will be a cadre of graduates just waiting to stretch you, pull you, and knead you in all of the right ways. You are welcome to stop by, get a little sample, or a really long, delicious treatment. If you're lucky, you may get four, or even six hands working on you at a time. No appointment is necessary, and bring you friends! suggested donation is $1/minute, and will go to an as yet undecided good cause (main line yoga new carpet fund?)

I notice that there's a new group owner than there was when I tried to join... And she joined the site like two years after I did. That's so WEIRD for me.

I've been to Fast, Cheap and Out of control. It's a good time.

All I can say about the relative lack of public events in the group is that there are less suggestions than there used to be and members are more spread out than before.

If you post interesting things you're going to anyway, people will probably show up... and if they don't, who cares? There will always be more interesting stuff coming up later. This philosophy worked quite well in the group back in the day, and boosted participation.

The Troc still does Movie Mondays. $3 for movies on the big screen, and you get the three bucks back towards a drink. Deal of the century.

Ministry is sadly no more, but there is Northbowl in NoLiberties, a swank venue with decent specials. Johnny Brenda's is right off the El stop and has good food and a pool table, North 3rd makes a nice sunday brunch, and we haven't had a class trip to the Constitution Center yet.

If you build it, they will come, or something.

It used to be that you just needed an SG Philly member to vouch for you, but I guess those days are gone.

Either way, we can't leave our houses because we're afraid of getting shot.

I'll have dinner on thursday night, if anyone wants.
i have a meeting in south philly at 7pm. it should last about an hour.
I just need to go somewhere that has decent vegetarian, I don't care about the ethnicity, or anything.

Silk City (the club and the diner) has just reopened under Mark Bee's ownership. It's gotten some good reviews, and I'd like to try the place. IIRC Peter is the chef and the food is supposed to be great.

I can only do Sundays/Mondays but don't let that stop anyone from throwing suggestions out there.

That's why I generally stay between Callowhill and South, as well as the Schyulkill and the Delaware.

Center city, in other words.

Oh! Except when I'm up on Temple's campus, since..yeah. School, and all that.

Luckily the J&J Trestle Inn, seediest sometimes-strip joint in the city, is within those confines at 11th & Callowhill.

I was JUST at fast and cheap this past sunday... it was dead when i left to go get pizza which turned into an hour long event of pigging out - i used to go to F&C alot back in the day

Next time I go out for a sunday it will be at the Khyber for "destroy your liver night" - $10 all u can drink 9-2am and it get PACKED with fun sweaty people

Ministry ... ah the memories

Monday at the TROC ... sounds like fun - been there a million times never made it to movie night

Silk City changed... **tear** but if fun people showed up we could bring back it's coolness

Johnny Brendas... fun/good bands/ good beer/ good food/ and a pool table... and the fact that i can fall out my front door and be there doesn't make me hate this idea at all

Come the month of AUGUST>>>> I will try and post days and locations according to all your suggestions... and we will see what happens

wink eeek
