i can't run chat. everytime i try it tells me that "firefox is running a script that will cause your browser to slow down or crash" or whatever that error message is.

Try upgrading to the latest version of Flash 8 and see if that helps. We didn't write the chat client (it's hosted by the nice people over at Userplane) but we did test it on Firefox 1.5 and the latest OS X without any problems.

Is there any way to turn off the "join" and "left" messages in the same way that you can with IRC?

PLUS... BLOODY.... ONE, that would make it a heck of a lot easier, and less laggy. Only problem is people using irc won't be able to check out the cams, but I don't see it being too much of a problem for them (afterall, they can always go back to the original window)
