Notice the huge explosion in comments between June and November 2003. That's no doubt due in part to the new redesign and addition of new features, but it's also a turning point I think. The unofficial end of the "Middle Skool" era is October 2003; between then and now is when SG really started to blow up.

Here's to continued success to the staff and company in 2005 smile

UPDATE: April 30, 2006

Just wanted to show how much things have changed since the initial post. Archive.org doesn't have any copies of the site over the last year so I can't post anything from 2005, but the numbers across the board have more than doubled.

Time to reach 500 girls and 5 million comments: 3.5 years
Time to reach 1000 girls and 10 million comments: less than 1 year

The same apparently goes for the traffic:

Also, if you assumed an average member would make 25 comments (megaposters making up for the swarms of anonymous lurkers), that would make 266,324 members to date.

If you gave more weight to the lurkers, and made it 10, that would make 665,810 members to date. eeek

Very simple and uninteresting, but here's each factor (of the omnipresent ones) graphed vs. time.

Much more linear than I would have expected for Girls and Photos.

also: it averages out, right now. to about 100 pictures a girl. of course, katie has something like 813 pictures, and many girls have under 50 pictures.

There were under 100 when I joined then... now we're past 400. Holy crap.

i always wondered what it was about Mary, girls come and go, some go inactive but mary has one journal entry saying she doesn't do journals and zero comments yet she's still active.

not that i'm complaining i'm just wondering if she just stares anyone down that tries to make her go inactive, the timmy screen always makes me feel intimidated with that "you're not good enough" stare surreal

She isn't required to keep a journal, some girls don't. She is however still submitting sets, so I don't see why she wouldn't stay active.

Something that always seems to make me sad, even though it really shouldn't.

I joined suicidegirls for the first time when I was sixteen, several years ago. Three, in fact. I was amazed by it, it was a real eye opener and it made me really want to get involved with the community. I wanted to be a part of it from that point on.

Unfortunately, I was sixteed and once my parents found out about my membership it was swiftly cancelled. Using your folks cards can get you in trouble, I guess.

So, but for the accident of my birth, I would have been a part of all of this. Instead, here I am just reaping the benefits of other peoples time, ideas, thoughts and money. Such a shame; I wish I could have been here.
