Now I've heard everything..
Today I received in my messages on MySpace a link to a blog where someone commented that this site should be shut down because it supports self-mutilation.
Apparently there was a set where a girl had carved "I'm Ok" into her arm....and cut herself throughout the set.

Why don't I have any recollection of this set? And yes, I may have only been here since 2005 - but when I first joined, I spent a week going through EVERY set (sad isn't it?) - I'm pretty sure something like that would stand out in my memory.

Help?
Anyone?

I don't believe there has ever been a set where anyone even hinted at self-harm in the non-lethal sense (unless I have missed it, but I think it would have been pretty big news). There were a couple of "suicide" related sets a while back, but none of those involved anything like that.

I've definitely seen sets with cutting either implied or simulated. But that's not the point, that's like saying SG promotes people getting ridiculously trite nautical star tattoos all over themselves and wacky hair extensions. It's nonsense.

Thanks Cherry...
I've been going through sets in my head that I remember having "blood" in them, but none of them involved anything remotely like that..

So I'm starting to think..
Did this person have a branding? And this moron interpreted it as a fresh cutting scar? Or maybe a tattoo of some kind saying I'm OK?

The whole accusation is just fucking stupid, but it's annoying me - and I want to find this "highly promoted and well known set" that this girl is talking about. You know - the one that doesn't really exist.

Cairo and Morgan's "The Fight" sword fight set, I know there are sets with girls who have scars etc, but the names don't come to mind.

So why don't you e-mail this girl and ask her for her back up?

I have - she's "not a member, because she wouldn't support any site that glorifies suicide and self mutilation" - she just "saw it posted on a website, or in the MySpace previews so she cannot remember"...

I'm pretty certain that set wasn't about self harm. It's difficult to know for sure (unless Morgan comes in to say one way or another) as it's been banned. It was a sword fight with two girls, but not about hurting oneself.

There are of course tons of sets of girls with scars of one thing or another (without being presumptuous I'm sure some are from self harm), but that doesn't mean the set is about the act of self harm.

Cairo and I did actually leave small marks on each other during "The Fight", but they were teeny, and that wasn't the theme of the set. In fact any blood in that set was only in about the last five pictures. But that isn't self-harm.

I can think of a few girls who have scars, and as Cherry says I'm sure some of those are from self-harm, but that's hardly "promoting it". Hell, I have some scars myself, I choose not to hide them but I'm certainly not promoting anyone hurting themselves.

I can think of other sets that hinted at blood, but never anything like what is quoted in the original post.

Exactly.

I do remember a set with a girl in a bathtub full of bloody water last spring that I'm pretty sure had a cutting element. I remember talking to a friend about it because I couldn't view the whole thing since it freaked me out and he thought it was amazing. I can't find it now though.

That bullshit is a perfect example of how things get blown out of proportion on Myspace. A few months ago, SG put up a preview of a set featuring a model who had scars on one of her arms. Everyone on Myspace flipped the fuck out, and claimed self-mutilation was being promoted. Now, the urban legend has turned into "oh, she cuts words onto her arms and actually cuts herself during her set."

It's like a game of telephone between a bunch of people with head wounds. The set doesn't exist, it's just Myspace fucktards blowing shit out of proportion again.

If you're dumb enough to cut yourself because the website with the purty girls does it, you're an idiot. End of story. There is no help for you.

Hmmm I wonder if the set you're talking about is the same one that she's describing here:

"Forth of all, the woman I saw was wearing a white top and on her arm there Was a scar that said "I'm Ok. If it was fake then that's even worse. She may not have actually cut her arm, but she, and the site is still sending out the message that it's cool.""

didn't SG yank a bunch of the bloodier sets and sets that were a bit more "offensive" than usual last year.
I remember quite a few good ones disappearing including one or two gory ones.

The 'cutting' episode of Seventh Heaven is pretty awesome. Not as good as the "Huffing" episode. But still pretty good.

Is Ruthie old enough to be on myspace and rebel against her preacher dad by becoming an SG yet?

That's when I realized... Frankie's a cutter!

Perhaps they're referring to Frankie from Real World San Diego.

Vishas Beautify right?

I guess I can't say for sure since it's been yanked but I could have sworn it was one that went live in April or May of 2005.
