Buena Vista Games has officially announced the sequel for what was, for almost a year, the only good PSP game. From the screens shown to the press, Lumines II (below) looks almost identical to the original. And speaking as someone who played the SHIT out of the first one, I hope they tweak this one so it doesn't take two flights, a train ride, and then an hour at home to finish a fucking game.
Buena Vista also announced Lumines Plus for the PS2, and a crazy-looking shooter for the PSP called Every Extend Extra (below). Which begs the question, "what?"
It's not all good news, though. The fourth game they revealed is for the DS called Meteos: Disney Edition. It's the perfect gift for the child you're trying to get to say, "Dad, is this your way of calling me a pussy?"
For a while now I thought it would be an interesting challenge for someone to improve upon Lumines in ways that didn't just include more boards. I look forward to a sequel, but I look more forward to the reviews after release.
I just played Lumines for the first time last week, and if it wasn't for Guitar Hero, needing to eat, and writing deadlines, it would have consumed me the same way Tetris did on my Gameboy back in the old days when the world was pea-soup green.
