Tony Snow has been offered the job of White House Press Secretary by newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten. Snow currently works as a political analyst for Fox News Channel, has a conservative radio talk show and was a speech writer for the first President Bush in 1991.
Snow is likely to accept the job according to, CNN although he has yet to do so.

Sources familiar with Snow's deliberations said he has been focusing on family, finances and his health, as he battles colon cancer.

The job is perfect for Snow, who seems to have no problem with lying. Let’s take a look at the resume!

Snow falsely asserted that former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV said his wife, Valerie Plame, "wasn't covert for six years" before she was exposed as a CIA operative by syndicated columnist Robert Novak.

Snow put forward numerous falsehoods to argue that "evolutionary theory, like intelligent design, isn't verifiable or testable. It's pure hypothesis."

Snow claimed that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the "most liberal justice in American history," despite evidence to the contrary.

Snow peddled peddled the baseless Republican National Committee talking point that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) had blamed U.S. troops for the explosives looted from the Al Qaqaa military installation following the invasion of Iraq. Snow said, "[T]he Kerry campaign is not criticizing the president here. They're criticizing our troops."

Following President Bush's lead, Snow distorted Kerry's stated desire to reduce terrorism to a "horrible nuisance." Snow claimed Kerry had "called terrorists a nuisance."

Snow backed backed Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's attacks on Kerry, falsely claiming, "[T]here has been no documentary contradiction of the Swift Boat stuff."

Snow falsely defended Bush from probing questions regarding his National Guard service.

And the lies go on and on...

Most of those bullet items don't seem like he was actually lying, i.e. distorting the truth intentionally. He sounds like most Republicans I know -- just too stupid to know better.

Snow's had his more positive moments as well. Still, this seems more a change of department rather than a new job for him.

If Snakes on a Plane doesn't net an Oscar, I'm giving up on Hollywood. I mean, c'mon, it's snakes on a %$&*$##% plane!

So the guy has done his job as a political analyst and given his views on issues. Sometimes he sides with Bush, sometimes not, and this is a problem to you people?!

For fuck's sake....if all of his views had been Pro-Bush, you'd tear him up for being a crony. Instead, you use the weakest fucking insult possible: He has had conflicting viewpoints on the President depending on the issue at hand? I thought that's what all you Anti-Bush people wanted- someone who isn't a blind supporter of whatever Bush does!

When are you all going to realize that you're so upset with the current Government that you'll twist anything into "news"?

so the gop wants this guy? why? what gives? granted he is good at distoriting information and omitting relevant facts that refute his remarks. but, he's got more than conflict. when kerry did it he was a flip flopper. if snow does it, he's got integrity for telling it as it is at the time? spin cycle! they shouldn't have let squealer go...he had no integrity left to lose (yet not much to start with either). where's ari?

no, i did not vote for kerry or bush (were they the only candidates or something?), and that doesn't justify either party's lies or inconsistency now does it? lay off the fallacies, please.

Simply pointing out that the door swings both ways. Many of the same people who will leap all over some inconsistencies in Snow's history are the same people that were defending Kerry's flip flopping in 2004.

Reminding people that their party of choice does the same exact things that the godawful Republicans do really tends to ruffle feathers around here.

Quite a number of us libs aren't mindless cheerleaders for the Dems. In fact, a number of us libs just consider that particular political party to be the lesser of two evils. A nuanced position, I know. Try not to let it blow your mind.

Try it this way:
When are you going to realize that your current government will twist anything into news in the effort to numb any remnant of rational thinking that might remain in your brain.

So far, they seem far more effective than I would have credited them

You can consider my feathers ruffled. smile

But you're still on Kerry's "flip flops"?

You are a well of vintage "talking points". They've been beat into you from the vile people that hijacked this country and now you regurgitate them all over web pages I enjoy. Stop it.

Any person counted on to speak publicy can appear to be all over the map. If you really want to talk about "flip flops" - Kerry has nothing on Bush:

Bush is against campaign finance reform; then he's for it.

Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.

Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it.

Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.

Bush is against nation building; then he's for it. (admittedly after he destroyed one - but you know for the sake of one)

Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.

Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again.

Bush is for states right to decide on gay marriage, then he is for changing the constitution.

Bush first says that 'help is on the way' to the military ... then he cuts benefits

Here's a fucking gem:

Bush-"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. Bush-"I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care.

Could you fucking imagine if anybody but that mean old twat said this? If Kerry had uttered that the Neocons would have set his fucking balls on fire!

Bush first says the U.S. won't negotiate with North Korea. Now he does.

Bush said he would demand a U.N. Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote.

Bush said the "mission accomplished" banner was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team.

Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the US. Bush after meeting with Pres. Fox, he's against it.

To his credit - I'm sure we can all agree he did a great job rebuilding New Orleans. I can't wait to visit this coming Neverember.

Hilarious. I read the this newswire every day and really laugh. Rumsfeld is still mad about the press coverage in Iraq. It's true. So true. The media never talks about the people that weren't killed or the bad plans we didn't use. C'mon!

We haven't even done Afghanistan right. Bush appraoched that like a kid egging a house on Devil's Night. He couldn't get out of there fast enough - and that's where our enemy was and frankly still is - we're letting the fucking Taliban make grounds again.

The Republicans have controlled both houses of Congress, and the executive branch for years - and still they blame the Democrats for the shit sandwhich this country is gobbling. I'm over it. So is everyone else.

I hope whomever is President after Bush has the stones to not pardon him after he's convicted. (take your pick)

I'm referring to the constant, incessant barrage of threads from a single person that take any news item having to do with The White House and presenting it as the next Watergate, complete with a ridiculous, racist, offensive or nonsensical title.

It is also worth reminding people (again), that Mr. Snow is in a no-win situation: Had he been nothing but Pro-Bush, the same story would be written, but with the headline, "Bush hires faithful puppet." Now he is being criticized for actually voicing disapproval with some Bush actions over the years.

My point is this item does not exist because the content is newsworthy. It exists for the sole reason of screaming, "The Bush Administration did something today, and here's our spin on why it sucks!"
