I'm lost
December 2003

APR 24, 2006 09:11 AM

I've read through every possible argument and criticism of President Bush and have remained largely unmoved.

I figured that, although I'm not a Conservative, I thought it best to show some respect to the man who is leading the fight against the radical Islamist extremists that threaten our existence.

I thought the abuse aimed at Bush was deranged. I thought it was symptomatic of a dangerous obsession that caused erstwhile liberals to lose all sense of proportion - to the point where they would ally themselves with complete fascists.

I was cynical about popstar hasbeens riding the anti-Bush gravy train and I also despised Hollywood airheads who would present their naive morality about the Middle East.

Well all that has changed, since I found out that world renouned lyricist and social commentator Pink has spoken out against Bush.

"One of the most important songs I've written" the peroxide chanteuse modestly claims about her new song "Dear Mr President". Surely this is one of the most important songs ANYONE has ever written.

Certainly, it prompted me to rethink my whole perspective on international relations for the first time since Eminem sang:

"Fuck money. I don't rap for dead presidents. I'd rather see the president dead. It's never been said, but I set precedents and the standards and they can't stand it. ... We as Americans. Us as a citizen. We've got to protect ourselves ..." on his classic protest ballad We as Americans.

When you've suffered and strived as brave souls like Pink & Eminem obviously have, it's hard for ordinary folk to see the world through their eyes, but it's something us common citizens of the world have to do, if ever this planet is to survive.

So yes - I am reconsidering. Perhaps if Kelly Clarkson spoke out against the war in Iraq it would be enough to tip me over the edge and you'll see me sucking George Galloway's ample cock on the next peace march in london.

I suspected this might happen, but I didn't think the words ''against the President" would be involved.

Maybe it's just me, but criticizing a teen pop singer's political stance is kinda low-hanging fruit. I daresay it might even be below you, Mr. Tight.

Can we make fun of Neil Young as well. Like Pink, he's belatedly cashing in on the Bush Hate fashion thing of a few years back - plus he's from the Maple Leaf State.

Oh for Christ's sake, knocking Bush is about as courageous as knocking cancer, everyone thinks he's an incompetent fuck up and not many people like war. If Bush's approval rating wasn't in the toilet, I'd be a little more impressed.

And I said the exact same thing about Eminem, and as far as i know he's not a woman.

If I was more of a capitalist, I'd admire the cynical greed underpinning this exercise. If I was more of a conservative I'd be happy that it was aimed fairly and squarely at Liberal wallets.

I was a part of her original fan base. We've all grown up.

I listen to her now because to me she is a Suicide Girl through and through, just not on the site, which is a shame.
