Porn has no safer home than America, yes she has been under attacked on a few occasions but real porn, our porn, this is its home.
You may not find enough people to rally for it, but I know enough people support it, be it magazine, film, comics, books, TV, or the Internet. Americans love porn.
I love porn, Don't you?
Why do we like it secretly hide our love of porn? Because society looks down on porn, neigh the world looks down on porn. But the American individual loves their porn. Why is it no other country on this planet embraces porn as we do? I do not know I am just ranting. We should be open about our sexuality. Its the one thing everyone has really got, and if they don't I pity them.

The couple times I've been to the uk I saw topless women in/ on magazines, full frontal male nudity on tv, and a softcore porno. That wasn't even cable if such a thing exists in Britian, it was like I-tv or BBC 2. You guys kicked out the puritans and gave them to us, remember? Great way to found a country by the way.

It's not just society being mean. Porn can be degrading, depressing stuff. Even Orson Welles, who had few boundaries, was nauseated by it.

Heh. I've been in Germany: frontal nudity in soap commercials. Porn magazines prominently displayed in rest stops. Airport news shops actually sell some pretty hardcore (Private, if you've heard of them) porno DVDs. And fairly mainstream videos involve fetishes and acts I've never seen in any major US porn release. (Though it's not something I seek out. I like fairly vanilla porn.).

In contrast, here we have major uproar over minor malfunctions of wardrobe on TV, and a fully clothed vaguely pornographic minigame that wasn't even playable in an unmodified copy of a videogame for a mature audience caused a huge uproar, several attempts at censoring laws, and millions of dollars in sales lost as it was promptly dumped by virtually every major retail outlet.

I'm just guessing here, but have you ever actually been outside the U.S.? As other people here have indicated, virtually all other western countries "embrace porn" far more than we do.

Hell, the first time I flew into Germany, I was considerably surprised to find at least one porno theater inside the fucking airport!

Edit to add: by the way, that was Frankfurt International Airport, or Flughafen Frankfurt am Main in 1992. The porno theater was in the concourse between the main airport and the train station under it. I'm fairly certain it's still there.

NO NO NO NO NO! Once again people misconstrue me (Its most definatly my fault)

Yes the American governemnt and sociey hates porn but the individual loves it. Why do you think the valley cranks out more porn than any other spot in the world? My point is its sad that Americans and almost anybody is ashamed of this. So Japan and Germany have more porn on the streets or tv (been to both and they are both lovely places) bfd. Who loves their porn more dearly? The 45 yr old married man, or the 19 Japanese boy?
As far as the "ethics of porn" yea we probably are uptight about it. Its the taboo that every American loves, and won;t admit it.

nudity sure, but does nudity equal porn? My understanding is that in the UK they can't legally show penetration, which is a far bigger blow to porn than nto allowing them on network TV...

but in Germany they also have some of the most draconian laws on what can and can't be shown in video games, such as green blood instead of red surreal

I don't even know where to begin. Your threads are exceedingly difficult to respond to in a serious manner because your arguments generally lack even some small semblance of rational structure. I really encourage you to take a course on logic and critical thinking, especially since you seem determined to make your points regardless of how illogical they often are.

That said, the argument that somehow Americans as individuals "love" porn more than citizens of other countries is completely unprovable. You have nothing to base that opinion on other than just your feeling. There is no objective measure of how much you love porn, and there is no evidence to suggest that somehow the average American loves porn more than the average German or Czech or Korean. They probably all like porn about the same, with some adjustment for the general level of acceptability for their given societies.

The Valley churns out more porn than anyone in the world for the same reason that Hollywood churns out more movies than anyone in the world: it's the most convenient area to make movies because everyone you need to make movies in is already there. That does not mean that Americans somehow "love" porn more than anyone else. To suggest it does displays a misunderstanding of economics and industry.

Now why would I want to do that? Everyone will desagree with my views no matter how hard I try. You all keep commenting on my veiws so I must strike a cord some way, This is the first time I've ever gone online outside of college, I consider myself decently succesful in grabbing peoples attention and thats more of a difference then I've ever made in people's lives (with the exception of teaching). And on that note, leave my profession alone.
I'll pick up as I go, fuck as long as I'm still interesting, and make people stop and think no what is she trying to say, and at the very least challenge a belief, then I go to bed at night satisfied.

I like how these are the only two choices. There exist no 45 year old married men in Japan? confused

I would say the Japanese are the most obsessed with their porn, as is plainly obvious by even mainstream pop culture in that country. Germany is known for producing the most hardcore porn.

I really would suggest you read up on this subject before you make any more inane assumptions.

As a teacher I would also hope that you understand that I do not live my profession 24/7. When you go to a bar do you speak in perfect grammar?

I suppose the issue is me, however in the course of my life I have never ever experianced so much adversity to any type of point I am trying to make.

That being said, it is both low and pathetic that anyone would take cheap shots at the fact that I teach. And in all my life I've never been retialiated against so cheaply.

How many things do you want to be wrong about today? There's no such thing as "Bollywood in India". It's a catch-all term given to Indian cinema by foreigners for a wide range of movie-producing regions all over the country.
