for everyone wondering where condoleeza rice is (she's on vacation, by the way), she popped up at a service at zion church today outside of mobile, alabama with some very encouraging words.

link 1
- link 2

While touring domestic disasters falls outside her official domain, Rice told Bush that "if there is anything I can do outside of my responsibilities as secretary of state, I'd be happy to do that, too." She was criticized last week for attending a Broadway show and shopping in New York during an abbreviated vacation.

...

Asked to say a few words from the pulpit, Rice, a preacher's daughter, said: "The Lord Jesus Christ is going to come on time." She added: "If we just wait."

so we're supposed to just wait it out? no offense to the jesus, but i don't think waiting it out's going to do us any good.

edited for link cramping.

Well, we can always hope that he gets impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors after the midterm elections, given his complicity in thousands of counts of criminally negligent homicide. There's that, at least.

Obviously the whole world has been failed by democracy.

We need a new system. let's just let George Soros pick every world leader from now on. Fuck the will of the people.

For articles to be generated I would assume the House would first have to be controlled by democrats, making the speaker of the house 3rd in line after the president and C.E.O. of Shrub co.
If they were successfully removed by senate trial it would certainly damage the republic. I could seriously see them refusing to step down, too.

"There are some things the president can do; there are some things the government can do," Smith told about 300 worshippers during a rollicking two-hour service. "But God can do all things. I want you to know he's never late. He's always on time."

Not that you would know this, not being a citizen of this country, but our democracy has this wonderful thing called a written constitution that provides from the removal of our president:

Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

It's not democracy that has failed us, it's the fact that our democratically elected leaders are abusing their power and neglecting their duties. Of course, Bush won both elections by illegally suppressing the black vote in Florida and Ohio, so maybe I shouldn't be referring to him as a democratically elected leader. But you get the idea.

Yeah, he was sure on time to stop Hurricane Katrina from killing thousands of people. And he got there just in the nick of time to counteract that tsunami a few months ago before it killed a bunch of people, too. Oh wait, that's right, he wasn't. And he didn't. surreal

yeah - I'm a European and therefore fully familar with desparate Bush-Hate

If there were any genuine grounds (rather than sad conspiracy theories) the Democrats would be taking legal and political action to initiate impeachment proceedings.

They would be making loud official statements about it on their website.

From where I'm sitting, the closest thing you have to any sort of working familiarity with my country's political system is your astute grasp of how to lodge your nose between Bush's asscheeks. This might qualify you for a position in the White House press corps, but it hardly gives you any sort of authority to speak about what happens during presidential elections on this side of the pond, which you're not on.

If there were any genuine grounds (rather than sad conspiracy theories) the Democrats would be taking legal and political action to initiate impeachment proceedings.

You mean like this one, which you would have found had you actually searched the web site itself? Or this one? No, they didn't initiate impeachment proceedings, which would have been difficult in any event since they didn't have a congressional majority to push the issue like the Republicans did when they had their panties in a wad about Clinton's sex life. They could have said and done more, sure. But if you're going to claim that there's no validity to any of this simply because the same people who didn't have the balls to stand up to the Swift Boat liars didn't have the balls to stand up on this issue either, you're barking up the wrong tree. In any event, please don't lecture me about the political events that happen in my own country, because you obviously don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

You know - I'm tempted to give up and admit defeat now. In Britain the Toledo Blade is regarded in higher esteem than even the BBC. It's our first port of call for all world news and if the Blade are saying it, I'm tempted to think it MUST be true.

However, I'll struggle on and just say this...

BWAHAHAHAHA

Do really think linking to an article to the same thing as an official Democratic Party statement alleging Bush had comitted electoral fraud and calling for his impeachment.

Same with the woolly snippits on the other page - there were accusations of dirty tricks on both sides, remember.

Not the same thing as having something concrete enough to cause the Dems to even mumble about impeachment.

I don't buy it at all.

If they had proof they would come forward with it - majority or not.

I may not be American, but surely this is common sense.

I know Libs are a patriotic bunch and loathed to criticise their president (regardless of his affiliation), but surely that would be too good an opportunity for them to miss

Either way, without anything concrete it's just hot air

Was it Jefferson who said (and i may be paraphrasing a bit), "It is the government's duty to protect its citizens. When a government fails its citizenry, it is not only their right, but their responsibility to overthrow the government."

How do we know when our government has failed us to the point where our responsibilities become clearer?

That's just not healthy.

Also, it fits in with our secret Neocon plans.

Yes - not all these conspiracy theories are antisemetic paranoia!

I'm going to seriously piss off my fellow lizardoids by revealing our secret straegy - so help me Condi!

Here's the thing.

Being contorted with 24/7 Bush-rage, won't actually allow Planet Earth to go back in time to before the election (and even if it did, the result would be the same).

Concentrating on Bush only makes Libs look like rabid single-issue extremists and if that didn't work last election (when Bush was standing) it sure as shit won't work during the next election (when he isn't).

If he there was any way he could be impeached, the Democrats would have tried it.

Bush-rage is brilliant....for us. It's wonderous to behold the sight of Liberals chasing their tails with such futile obsessions.

We'd only really be worried if Libs were to say "fuck it - we've got Bush for another 3 years - lets stop moping, stop moaning, stop fighting a war that was lost last November and lets start concentrate on making ourselves look sane and electable".

i.e. they need to do EXACTLY what Tony Blair did with the Labour Party to break the stranglehold that the Conservatives had held since Thatcher was elected in 1979.

It would have suited John Major (the frankly shit Tory incumbant) no end, had the Labour Party still been possesed by an all-consuming hatred of Thatcher.

Instead, they got wise, became more sensible and moderate, dropped the militant Trotskyite shite and got into office.

Let's hope the Democratic Party and its lib activists don't have the same realisation.
