yeah, and it has no bugs...whatever... whatever

linux is cool, but let's no get carried away.

Yeah, by no means is Linux perfect. It's worth trying, though, in my opinion. It's like this: you're going to spend a certain amount of time futzing with your computer no matter how you look at it. In my experience, running windows, most of that time is spent waiting for McAfree or whatever to stop scanning your harddrive for viruses. During that time your machine pretty much grinds to a halt...

As for problems with Linux, for me the number one thing is media -- getting windows media files and quicktime and stuff to run. But then, there are similar problems between Windows and OSX.

And tho this a lot of people will think this is horseshit,, I feel running Linux makes me a part of something bigger than just an operating system.

Let's face it, you're not going to hear about OSX labs opening up in schools in Africa. Not gonna happen. But Linux, yeah. I think that's cool.

So... should I actually consider learning to use a Mac now?

Boing Boing: Apple to add Trusted Computing to the new kernel?

There have been absolutely no confirmed reports of Apple using Trusted Computing in any of their commercial software. Even if they do, it will likely be as a deterrant to using OS X on a machine other than a Mac. Apple doesn't even use serial numbers for their OS.

... if you want to put windows on another computer at your place you cant. you have to spend $150-$190 to do that and get a new MS OS with its own number licence whatever it is... everyone whos using windows i suggest getting a live cd thats linux and try it out i bet you wont miss windows once you dump it for linux.

Actually, someone in the computer industry press said that the forced licensing required for Windows XP prompted quite a few Windows users to switch to Linux. And FWIW, the State of Israel dumped Windoze in favor of Linux - for security reasons.

I hate it when this shit happens. It's bad enough that i'm forced to go through itunes to get my music because new CD's don't support the format. Now this stupid shit.

I WANT TECHNICAL FREEDOM!
