I call bullshit. Saddam is a Suni Muslim. Osama is an Islamic Fundamentalist. Osama considered Saddam to be a bad Muslim. End of story.

Hey, don't look at me, I proposed sexual promiscuity as the new sport, but then they kicked me out and cut up my membership card.

So once more, for those with short memories, here's what the 9/11 Commission concluded:

Around [March 1997] Bin Ladin sent out a number of feelers to the Iraqi regime, offering some cooperation. None are reported to have received a significant response.

....In March 1998, after Bin Ladin’s public fatwa against the United States, two al Qaeda members reportedly went to Iraq to meet with Iraqi intelligence. In July, an Iraqi delegation traveled to Afghanistan to meet first with the Taliban and then with Bin Ladin....Similar meetings between Iraqi officials and Bin Ladin or his aides may have occurred in 1999 during a period of some reported strains with the Taliban.

....But to date we have seen no evidence that these or the earlier contacts ever developed into a collaborative operational relationship.

And that's it. Both Saddam and Osama hated the United States. They had a couple of tentative conversations that never led anywhere. The last ones were in late 1998 or early 1999, and by the time the war started, the fundamentalist Sunnis of al-Qaeda and the secular Baathists of Iraq hadn't so much as exchanged notes for four years. More details here, if you're interested.

Actually the Wall Street Journal in 2005 has an article showing the obvious connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda..

Saddam and al Qaeda

Messrs. Hayes and Joscelyn raise, with good reason, the question of why Saddam gave haven to Abdul Rahman Yasin, one of the men who in 1993 helped make the bomb that ripped through the parking garage of the World Trade Center. They detail a contact between Iraqi intelligence and several of the Sept. 11 hijackers in Malaysia, the year before al Qaeda destroyed the twin towers. They recount the intersection of Iraqi and al Qaeda business interests in Sudan, via, among other things, an Oil for Food contract negotiated by Saddam's regime with the al-Shifa facility that President Clinton targeted for a missile attack following the African embassy bombings because of its apparent connection to al Qaeda. And there is plenty more.

Don't forget that one of the tactics of the far left is that if they say something enought times that the feeble minded will believe it.

That's a tactic of the "Far Left"alone? You can't possibly be serious.

the wall street journal has a habit of pretending that things are the opposite of the way they really are. Recently they published a feature on global warming where they said 'the evidence for human caused global warming is getting weaker all the time"
They got things backwards there and they're getting things backwards with any alleged saddam/osamma conspiracy

Sorry to say I can't really comment on the ABC story, as RealPlayer is being... well, RealPlayer.

Bin Laden had no love for Hussein. Before bin Laden's relationship with Saudi Arabia soured, he had offered to send soldiers there to defend against Iraq in the previous Gulf war. Saddam was carrying out terrorist attacks on bin Laden, and any aid Saddam might have given to bin Laden was to prevent further attacks--essentially blackmail money.

That's not to say Saddam Hussein deserves a cookie for being on our side, but the connection is not there.

One of the signs of being feeble minded is believing that tactics like that are only used by the other side.
